Trump Rips Into Sasse

President Trump took to Twitter on Monday morning to scorn Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), who called his flurry of executive actions over the weekend “unconstitutional slop.”

Shorter Sasse: “I am deeply troubled by this thing I will do nothing about.”

(At this point, he’s got it on speed dial.)

As Ben looks ahead to a political future that includes moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, from time to time he tries to appear reasonable. He squawks about Trump but then votes in the Senate with his president 86% of the time including the vote to end ACA and Impeachment. His votes seem to indicate little moral conviction only expediency.

P.S. I Ike to think of Ben as the male version of Susan Collins, make a little noise about being concerned and then toe the party line.

This is the end of the GOP, now that football is being cancelled, all the arm chair quarterback GOP voters are going to wake up to what a shit show the party’s response has been.

Middle America Dems should run on a get sports playing again platform. Sell healthcare and Econ recovery in the context of football.

Sasse is ahead of the curve here. Trump just took total credit, during his garish press conference, for the insignificant, practically worthless EOs he issued to ostensibly address the economic crisis among the unemployed and poorly paid.

Democrats don’t even need to go to court to fight the unconstitutional basis of his orders, because the country will see soon enough how poorly targeted they were. And thanks to Trump’s ego-driven presser, they’ll know exactly where the blame lies, as cases continue to escalate in the Fall season.

I kinda sympathize with Sasse… Two things… One: take away football and there is no amusement at all in Nebraska, and Two, why worry about players maybe catching Covid-9 that may be serious, when they are almost sure of of getting chronic traumatic encephalopathy. If you are going to worry about the players health, they should not be allowed to play at all.

No.

Nutshell, if we’re going to do this (minus the snarkiness), then what are your thoughts about a college football players union?

Sasse is no doubt unhappy that he can’t kiss Trump’s ring over Zoom.

False choices are so much fun.

Besides, it isn’t really about entertainment, is it? Not for the schools.

I’d like to think that it’s the end of the road for the modern GOP, but Republican voters (and some moderates) will possibly give them a pass.

That talk is currently happening on the Alabama Democrats Twittah page.
