President Trump continued his full-blown smear campaign against Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the White House’s top experts on COVID-19, by airing his usual grievances against him during an interview on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning.
The endless irony is that, had Trump literally done nothing all year but sit back and let Fauci run the show, he’d be cruising to re-election right now.
“Scott Atlas is fantastic, but they go after him so much,” Trump said, referring to the media. “He has a different view. By the way, everybody has a different view. Doesn’t mean they’re wrong or they’re bad people, but people have different views.”
Some people say that when you resort to “it is just somebody’s opinion” rhetoric it is a sure sign that your handlers have told you not to say stupid things like “Obama killed Seal Team Six” or “Herd immunity is a solution” but that you can’t help yourself because you’re such a nasty, vindictive creep and have the brains of a dirty diaper pail. That’s their view, which is fine!
He is decompensating. It is not pretty. His language at the rallies is cruder and cruder. It will get uglier and uglier. Buckle up, the next 2 weeks will be the most slime filled in memory.
“They say, right, that this is the laptop from hell,” Trump replied. “They say right in the laptop that, you know, the big man has to get 10 percent, and then in another case they say 50 percent. This is 100 percent. This is — and even if he didn’t get, and he does get, and he lives like a king — even if he didn’t get all of this money — and everybody’s known this in Washington for a long time.”
This makes it all very clear, right? Exactly what is this guy on?
The truly horrible thing about all this, is that the Trump administration will still be mismanaging the pandemic for almost three full months after he loses the election.
More deaths, more lack of PPE, more lack of testing and contact tracing to get us out of this. Maybe even worse than now, because there won’t even be a pretense of dealing with anything. Who knows what will happen with vaccine development, when it can no longer be a campaign prop.
This is the kind of stuff that tears at sociopath Trump’s brain and his need to be superior to all others:
Fauci is getting “more airtime than anybody since the late, great, Bob Hope.”
“If I listened to him (Fauci), we’d have 500,000 deaths.”
“I saved thousands of lives.” (Me, me, me, me . . . )
But we’re at the point it is just laughable. Millions of new votes are rolling in every day; if my math is at all right, we’re about 25% of the way to the total votes in 2016 already.
And nothing he is doing or saying is moving the needle for him at all.
I’m just chilling out with popcorn thru election night now.
I’m just looking at the outlet - if it says Fox, then I know a story is contained to the echo chamber.
When CNN, ABC, CBS start carrying a bit of Trump complaining favorably and giving it legitimacy, then it’s a concern.
I’m also heartened by the way Republicans have turned on Romney, McCain, GW, and Bush. There isn’t a lot of lasting loyalty there. More of a cult of personality around “the winner” that disappears quickly. They’d probably turn on Dole if they remembered him.
The companies will be plowing ahead with testing and pre-production. We weren’t going to see any substantial amounts until spring even in a best-case scenario anyway.
It’s so true. The Trump Covid response is the perfect illustration of just how stupid, short sighted, psychologically malformed, inattentive, lazy and dangerous Trump is. He is 100% reactive to the moment and incapable of playing any long game. Plus he is just a nasty bastard.
