I am seriously and pleasantly surprised that our Dear Leader is keeping the response down to a dull roar rather than ordering a massive military action. Some of the few surviving competent advisors must have been working on him ever since the Iranian shelling.
Anyway, mission accomplished: once again we’ve made the Middle East a more unstable and dangerous place. No more nuclear accord, no way of getting back to anything like it, internal opposition to the Iranian leadership overwhelmed by rally-round-the-flag demonstrations. Do we have any data on how this has affected Trump’s polling? Was it worth it for him to try to become Wartime President Lite?
Trump appears to be walking away from war with a cloud of bullshit and bluster.
The last time he stiffed the neocons (Bolton) he got impeached. What will happen this time? He’s clearly telling the neocons that he isn’t going to war.
None of our former allies would join him. The Pentagon would not join him. Even Tucker Carlson would not join him.
Donald is an international social and political pariah. Even Bibi said what Trump did to that general was a a terrorist attack and that Israel wants no part of any of Donald’s other crimes.
Trump got his A$$ handed to him by Iran. He murdered one of their top generals and told Iran to step over this line-so they did. They fired back and said-your turn. Regardless of trump not starting a war-he got handed his can. Also, he has now escalated tensions that were already high. After he reads how people online will say he BLINKED, this is what you can expect to flow from his tweets later today.
I thought we already had “punishing sanctions” on Iran? Are these super-duper sanctions?
We’re long past the point where Iran has plenty of non-American trading partners. It seems unlikely that extending sanctions, to the extent that is possible, will have any measurable effect on Iran. It’s not like a single other country will join in.
Trump said that since he took office “America has achieved energy independence.”
Unsurprisingly he doesn’t seem to understand global markets, the US has not needed the ME oil for decades. But if the Persian Gulf trafic gets disrupted, the MAGA hat wearing moron will be looking in the ashtray to find pennies to fill his Ford Super-Duty at 4 dollars a gallon.

Nah, all the cool kids are working on hypersonic missiles. The Russians claim to have deployed one (not confirmed). Trump said the US has them “under construction” which is meaningless because everyone knows they’re being developed. It would be news if Trump said they were already deployed.
But I do think this is now a real issue for the Boltonites. Your one moment to strike at the King to get him out is now. If you’re Trump, you’re firing Pompeo tomorrow.
