Trump Pressured Return Of Big Ten Season To Boost His Standing In Swing States

President Trump couldn’t help but pat himself on the back shortly after the Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that it approved a reversal of its recent decision to postpone the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the LSU (SEC Conference) head coach admits almost his entire team contracted COVID.

And offering federal aid, which would be a campaign finance violation, I believe.

It’s easy to buy votes when you’re spending taxpayer money.

Oct. 24th is a long way away yet. I’m a fan/ alum of Penn State, and while I was disappointed there wasn’t going to be football this fall, I thought it was the right thing to do. Given that nothing has changed regarding the spread and containment and that fall was when we were supposed to be seeing a ‘second wave,’ I expect them to be forced to reconsider this before the first snap.

If only the athletes could fake the virus like they’ve learned to cheat urine samples.

I feel very bad for the athletes. The virus is no joke. It’s effect on heart & lungs can take an athlete from ELITE performance to “average” athletic performance. Effectively ending many of their careers, aspirations to pro ball. They’ve already seen that 15% of athletes develop myocarditis subsequent to having CoV…for many their lungs will never be the same either…again taking them from a max VO2 of elite status to barely normal.

Smh…sad that their lives are being risked for politics…very sad.

trump would make a good tackling dummy. He has the dummy part down pat.

I stopped watching football when it became obvious that the NFL was perfectly willing to sacrifice its players to CTE, and any other chronic medical problems they may develop. The league’s reactions to everything since then (Colin Kaepernick, the Kraft sex trafficking scandal, etc.) have reinforced my decision. The NCAA regime is every bit as sleazy.

Gee, it’s hard to believe we lead our peer nations, and, in fact, the world in COVID cases and deaths.

I guess it’s all those tests we’re doing.

I’ve never followed college football. A tradition that l’ll niw continue with a certain smug satisfaction.

Additionally, teams in the league are required to stop practices and games for at least a week if they record COVID-19 test positivity rates greater than 5 percent.

The conferences are to blame for taking the bribe. They are out of their minds about revenue loss from season not opening. Too much TV money, coaching salaries and academic programs being loss.

The saddest part is the athletes will risk their lives & health for everyone except them to be paid.

Only the athlete pays the ultimate price.

I hope they sue conference & university for this terrible decision to risk their lives.

If by that, you mean corrupt, it’s almost certain.

Yes, corruption is part of it.

Honestly, I just remain perplexed at these weak-willed assholes in either college or professional football. Why would anyone be afraid of this fucking scumbag to cave in so easily? What’s the secret here?

Big-10 football is the state religion where I live. The local “thing everybody knows” is that during home games the stadium is the 3rd largest population center in the state. I’m an import from California where college football is big in the regions where the big universities are, but not an all-encompassing, shut-the-state-down-on-Saturday affair. So I don’t really follow the state team, but I was pleased that the conference took what I thought was a very smart stance on COVID early on. Well, that was nice while it lasted. Conference leadership and university ADs are, I suspect, pretty susceptible to pressure from Trump and so now they’re going to get a bunch of kids sick. SickER, I guess, since COVID is already spreading just fine on campus.
