I’m caught between wanting to scream into the void about what is happening, and grabbing popcorn and watching everything burn down while saying “We warned you this would happen.”

I hate to say it, but Big Business might be our saviors (maybe not the Tech Bros, but traditional businesses like automakers, banks, big retailers, and pharmaceutical companies) - they aren’t going to like the economic turmoil/depression that’s coming.

The best way forward is to assume that they are all Russian assets and act accordingly

God DAMN.

I can barely process all of this.

Meanwhile, yesterday I stumbled on a Substack comment by never-sure-where-he-stands Andrew Sullivan (is he a Trump apologist? Is he a classical conservative? One thing is that he’s never quite trustworthy) about Hair Furor’s Napoleon post, saying it’s definitely fascist. Some of the responses accused him of Trump Derangement Syndrome, or that they approve of everything he’s done so far, or general support. (One guy threw in Hunter Biden, of course.)

It led me down a rabbit hole of “how do you defuse a cult?” And with this particular one, reading the glorious America headlines of F--News.com, I don’t think it’s impossible. Too much mis- and disinformation.

The Trump administration move to gut the Bonneville power administration will result in the cleanest and the cheapest power in this country being less clean, and less affordable.

It is an attack on all of us in the Pacific Northwest.

I wonder how the airlines feel about the gutting of the FAA and air traffic controllers.

Coz most of you didn’t vote for him and there’s likely a Musk grudge there somewhere.

Why do either Tim Burchett or Tom Homan go on camera? They are boorish bullies and come across as such.

It hasn’t happened yet, but my wife is terrified that they are going to gut the FDA, and cancel an upcoming audit. It sounds like a pro-business move to cancel an audit, but the international regulatory consequences are severe.

Why would anyone do business with or in the United States if they can’t trust their products?

Same thought here. Money is in the driver’s seat in DC now, and the automakers, Big Ag, and Big Pharma aren’t going to want their profits messed with.

Add the defense industry to that as well, which I think is going to put a brake on any efforts to disengage with NATO. We sell too much hardware for too much money to those countries.

Canada, for example, has an order for 88 F-35 fighters to modernize their air force. That’s $8.9 billion for Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and the other US subcontractors not including further parts and support. And it’s just one weapon system for one NATO member.

I have a flight coming up soon that I gotta be on. Not feeling too warm and cozy about that.

I just hope that if it is dangerous, the professionals call it off somehow.
