Trump Plans On Pardoning Michael Flynn And Others On His Way Out

You could have knocked me over with a feather. Pardon this parade of felons?
Well, yes. They know where the bodies are buried. I think Flynn is also a Putin agent – or at least signed on with donnie.

I think that’s a high probability even if he doesn’t get pardoned. A felon can run and hold a Congressional seat.

Great! He can pardon whomever he wants, then Maloney can haul them before the oversight committee in late January and ask them to explain their crimes. Lying to congress would be a new crime not covered by the pardon, and there’s no mango-friendly DOJ to cover their asses at that point.

Dude, the 2022 midterms are likely literally almost around the corner, and we can’t risk the Dem majority by actually doing anything that might upset people who will likely never vote for Dems anyway.

Plus, do we REALLY need abortion rights and gay marriage? And is torture really THAT bad?

If they couldn’t, half of Repubs couldn’t hold office.

From prison (assuming no pardon and he loses court case)?

Trump (yesterday) - “ I won “.
Since he “won” the election and will be president for the next four years, what’s the rush?

He is looking at less than 6 months in jail. Assuming he gets sentenced and no pardon, he still has 18 months to campaign. And that is if he wants to run in 2022 instead of 2024 (which he probably does, if only for the grift)

Nice Voting Rights Act you have there. It would be too bad if something happened to it.

Letting him pardon that turkey wasn’t a good idea.

I do too, but I don’t think pardoning Flynn is the way to keep them hidden.

TPM, engage a copy editor, please!
That’s all that’s holding me back from.signing up for Prime.

Oh, I don’t think so either. No one claimed that Donald is rational or strategic.

And Flynn will lie and lie and and become an uncooperative and unreliable witness whose testimony should not be considered.

He’ll get away with it, and won’t spend a day in jail. Just like almost everyone else.

Everyone who did not see this coming, raise your hands.

Everyone. Raise Hands.

No? Nobody?

OK. Let’s move on shall we?

He’s up on state charges I believe.

Why not?

Everything else has.

Predictions: Trump will pardon Flynn and several others among his collection of felonious lickspittles. No court will attempt to push back against it - the Presidential pardon power is very broad, and AFAIK has never been successfully contested. No one in Congress will haul any of these people into hearings - they’ve got more urgent matters to attend to, and it would look too much like Trumpish petty revenge. No Federal prosecutor will try to finagle new charges against any of them - too much chance of wandering into “double jeopardy” territory, so it’s probably not worth the effort.

This will be regarded as the final, unsurprising, corrupt act of a corrupt President, and it will be quickly forgotten.
