“Joined-up process”? What process? Trump doesn’t have one of those.
When he was doing The Apprentice, he would go off script and make stuff up on the fly all the time. Little things like suddenly deciding live during the shoot that he’d fire someone other than the one who was scripted out. Everyone then had to scramble to re-cut things in post-production to make the storyline fit.
There ain’t no post-production to make things right when the President of the United States is fucking up the response to a global crisis in real time.

I am nominating this for the official “theme song” of the Trump/Pence Virus (aka COVID-19). Because: 1) we we are truly living on one, and 2) there is a ship full of people floating around Mexico right now that can’t find a port that will allow it to disembark their passengers.

epidemics scare the bejeebus out of me… i was a kid when polio breakouts occurred, schools, theatres and most public places were closed…now, it is much more congested…i don’t see how it can be prevented from spreading…unless quarantines are enforced…i don’t know how it was managed here…i was raised in Canada…when the polio vaccine became available…we all stood in line for however long it took,to get the vaccine.it is not fun and games…yeah…i’m that old!!! i

To be fair, Alex Azar, has been pretty inept about the matter, I don’t even remember hearing from him about Coronavirus or anything else. He has probably been busy talking bribes and kickbacks like all of Trump cabinets members.
Not that Pence is going to make matters any better, the guy is dumber than a cinder block.

They’ll have an interesting time trying to sell that one. As far as I know every state does epidemiology and those those numbers flow up from the counties, if I remember correctly. All those sources make it hard to juke the stats. Of course even that bastard Azar was saying yesterday there were 15 cases which is an absolute lie and he knows it. So there’s going to be pressure and unless the professionals successfully push back we won’t be able to trust our national public health people in the middle of a pandemic. So that’s just fucking dandy.

As much as I dislike Vice President Pence, as a former state governor, he should be familiar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Prior to the last presidential election, having a future vice president assume responsibility for coordinating national pandemic control efforts had already been placed on the table.
Let the stock market keep going through corrections and tRump will be giving a speech on plan B or is that C for coronavirus.

I read that the CDC has been walking a fine line, because it doesn’t want Trump to cut its funding.
Let’s see if health professionals ignore Trump and do their jobs anyway. I think they will.

Good Washington Post reporting on the “community transmission” case in California yesterday. Sounds like it might be from near Travis Air Force Base, where the infected Diamond Princess passengers were quarantined. That’s actually a positive detail since it might imply a more direct transmission route.
