I think the counter argument is they were just being German when they did these things, and Nazism just happened to reap the benefits from their efforts.
I will say that Adolf Hitler actually did serve as a soldier for his country unlike some of the tin-plated authoritarian Republican politicians, and those two examples just goes to show that the most terrible ideas can come from any walk of life.

I do not believe he’s a brilliant mastermind who orchestrated this whole scandal, including the Arlington official challenging them and being pushed to the ground. That grants Trump way too much power and pretends he’s far more intelligent than all available evidence shows him to be.
I think what happened at Arlington is yet another example of Trump World’s bullying buffoonery, not some plan or conspiracy any more than contracting Covid or getting shot at was part of some master plan. The cemetery official got pushed to the ground because he surrounds himself with bullying misogynistic pieces of shit like himself who think nothing of putting their hands on a woman. Not because it was all part of his plan.
I have no doubt that the message he intended to send to his base and voters that day was that he’s the patriot who showed up to honor the dead that Harris and Biden killed in their shitshow pull out of Afghanistan. That’s what he wanted the headlines to be, and honestly, that’s a far more disturbing scandal than what actually happened. He was trying to blame Harris and Biden for the deaths his horribly negotiated pullout caused. Instead of focusing on that, we’re off allowing him to polish the turd by pretending this was some carefully orchestrated conspiracy to get attention. It was worse than that.
It was an attempt to sell a lie to the American people by pretending he had nothing to do with the Afghan pullout and that the Biden Administration fucked it up all on their own. He was using the graves of our fallen to cut a political attack ad blaming his opponent for deaths HE CAUSED. But that’s getting lost as our side engages in this all-powerful Trump conspiracy theorizing.
