No. Government pension. It may be from a different pot but it is still government money. They are government employees, no matter what they would like to think.
Who are you going to believe, me or your lyin’ eyes, and eyewitness accounts, and videotape, and still photographs, and police reports, and Army statements?
Trump, in the video, claims, “We didn’t lose one person in 18 months. And then they took over that disaster.”
… In his phrasing, it sounds as if no troops were killed in Afghanistan during the last 18 months of his presidency. That’s false, though as we will show, there was an 18-month gap with no fatalities across Trump’s and Biden’s combined presidencies."
Tha t makes the most sense since Trump referenced Biden’s taking over," Kessler notes. “The Defense Department database showed 12 deaths from hostile action in that period. We double-checked with the news releases issued by the Pentagon in that period and confirmed the 12 names.”
Kessler adds, “The last two deaths occurred on February 8, 2020. Javier Jaguar Gutierrez of San Antonio and Antonio Rey Rodriguez of Las Cruces, New Mexico, both 28, were fatally ambushed by a rogue Afghan policeman. Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence, flew to Dover Air Force Base when the bodies arrived in the United States. That was 11 months before Trump’s presidency ended.”
Funny you say this. I knew a few people back in the old days, worked at meat lockers in Milwaukee – lots of them for places like Patrick Cudahy, and for deer meat processing. The job suited them. In fact, when they went home, they kept their houses cold, and practiced nudism, because…
I’ve mentioned this before. Fallows describes here what all of us do. The fact that we feel awkwardness in some social situations as we listen to people talk is also a sign of this: we don’t know the “lingo,” and so we feel ignorant. That is, we don’t know the code to switch to in order to fit in.
Apparently, the message here is that white people don’t code switch, so we shouldn’t trust POC who do in public?
Thomas expressed her appreciation in an email sent to Kelly Shackelford, an influential litigator whose clients have won cases at the Supreme Court. Shackelford runs the First Liberty Institute, a $25 million-a-year organization that describes itself as “the largest legal organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to defending religious liberty for all Americans.”

Shackelford read Thomas’ email aloud on a July 31 private call with his group’s top donors.
I’m one of those obsessive-compulsive news-followers. I also worked in the Research and Analysis Group of a State Department of Public Health. So, I know a few things about what are politely called “Adult News Stands”.
Regardless of particular store type (some have video booths, some don’t), they are hotbeds of organized crime activities. In New Mexico, one in my area was notorious for supplying firearms for export across the border to Mexico. Generally, they are notorious fronts for money laundering (apparently they were primarily cash businesses).
If they have video booths, they are frequently point sources for STI outbreaks. If the shop is frequented by transients (e.g., long-haul truckers) this is even more likely. When I worked at the Health Department the VD group in our Epidemiology Department monitored the Adult News Stands pretty closely in their contact tracing. (They also monitored gay clubs/bars and the strip clubs pretty closely.)
Basically, the reason for going to a video booth at an Adult News Stand was usually not to watch porn videos. Now, who his partners were (if any) is unknown and at this point probably unknowable. But this information has drastically increased my prior probability that the fellow was on the down-low for some period of his life.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. But there’s certainly something wrong with being a gay-basher regardless of your history, and if that’s his history it makes his gay-bashing and misogyny that much worse.
The Army has been able to keep her identity confidential so far, which suggests to me that the Arlington organization is tight enough that it may never be revealed. I don’t think it’s inevitable that this will happen. Also, to my knowledge you can’t get a restraining order without naming the person involved, so that isn’t likely either.
On the Army pressing assault charges without her, that would be for the DOJ not the Army, under the Federal felony law for assault on a government official. The DOJ may decline to press that charge without the victim being a cooperating witness that could guarantee a conviction. Same reason Matt Gaetz isn’t being charged with sex with a minor, because the woman won’t cooperate as a witness.
OMG you are making her likable MAGA disciple flips over Kamala Harris going by her first name: ‘She’s not a soccer star!’ - Raw Story
Former President Donald Trump’s former trade adviser Peter Navarro has a simple demand for Trump supporters: stop referring to Vice President Kamala Harris by her first name
“I am urging you, from this day forward, never, ever, ever, to refer to Kamala Harris by her first name, only her first name,” said Navarro. "Kamala, Kamala, Kamala… she is not a soccer star, okay? Pelé, I get it, Messi, I get it, okay. But when you use ‘Kamala’ these days, it does not do us any good. Works in the other direction. It personalizes her and it creates a favorable impression. We haven’t been able to do what needs to be done based on her resume, turn Kamala into a four-letter word like Hillary was. So stop doing that, okay? No more Kamala.
