Trump was reportedly convinced that the Ukrainian government was inherently corrupt and that if

More likely that Giuliani (unpaid by Trump) wanted a cut of anything related to Ukraine and did want people going around him, so he convince Trump to funnel everything through him.

Wait, TPM, did you actually write this : "According to CNN, it became clear to the three administration officials that they’d have to work with Giuliani in order to funnel accurate information about Ukraine to the President.? ".

I mean, be serious here.

According to two sources familiar with the conversation who spoke to CNN, Trump was reportedly convinced that the Ukrainian government was inherently corrupt and that if new President Volodymyr Zelensky wanted a sit-down, Giuliani would first have to be assured that wasn’t the case.

This is self-serving BS. The phone calls were clearly about a quid-pro-quo, dirt on Biden in return for aid. Hell, Trump was counting on them being corrupt enough to manufacture the dirt. The claim that Trump was ¨concerned¨ about Ukrainian corruption is a post-facto attempt at cover-up.

So, Pompeo’s job responsibilities were being outsourced to a private contractor, and he’s OK with it.

How the hell he even shows his face in public without expressing deep shame and embarrassment is a mystery.

There’s no way to know what was in Trump’s head, or who put it there, or why. But we know what he did.

Well, he´s never been concerned about corruption in Saudi Arabia, Russia, the Philippines, and so on, so the logical inference is that his ¨concern¨ was getting trash on a political opponent. I grant you there´s no way to know what goes on in his head, so I think we should just go with what he does and says.

The two sources:

  1. Giuliani.

  2. Perry.

All cleared up. What more do you people need?

A whisper in the ar and a prayer, but when it is the only path available, I am sure they took their chances.

The question is, was it corrupt in the “right” way or the “wrong” way? The “right” way meant that Spankee could ask for his own corruption to be supplemented by them, but the “wrong” way meant they wouldn’t play ball on either Biden or Manafort.

Very important to know this first…

(And we can see from the phone call that he assumed they were corrupt in the “right” way…)

Once lovingly known as “America’s Mayor,” Giuliani is now fondly referred to as “America’s Lawyer.”
