Trump Officials Cagey On Employers Of Undocumented Immigrants

After a record 680 suspected undocumented workers were arrested during a series of raids in Mississippi last week, Trump administration immigration officials seem unable to answer one question from reporters: What happens to the businesses owners who hire undocumented immigrants in the first place?

They are very “Cagey” when it comes to putting children in cages too…

Yeah, “Cagey” here means at least “Conflicted”, if not “Complicit”.

“I’m not really prepared to speak to that,” Cuccinelli responded. “I don’t think so. The President does those [commutations] one person at a time.”

“…and generally only after their deposit checks clear.”

Trump Officials Are Cagey On Punishing Employers Of Undocumented Immigrants

Of course they are: even if Hair Fuhrer isn’t concerned about another article of impeachment (and post retirement indictment,) I’m sure he doesn’t want to give his cabinet members and donors another reason to whine about how ‘unfair’ it all is.

It’s obvious what happened here; the undocumented employees each tricked the employer into thinking they were your average Joe and Jane USA-born worker. Probably ought to prosecute them all for fraud too, then. And that employer should receive a healthy government bailout for having to suffer the consequences of Obama’s broken immigration system.

Don’t worry, they’ll self-report.

“Did that decision to grant a prison commutation to this man send the wrong message to employers?” the reporter asked Monday.

“I’m not really prepared to speak to that,” Cuccinelli responded. “I don’t think so. The President does those [commutations] one person at a time.”

After the bribe is paid.

Take note, Democrats. This is a big reason why people cross the border or, after asking for asylum, (used to) “disappear” into American society. Start talking about how the “immigration problem” is caused by R-voting employers who rarely face the law.
In the meantime, of course, they’re happy that other R’s (or they themselves, in Trump’s case) demonize and otherize the people crossing the border. The old saying “they work hard because they work scared” is confirmed–and R’s are happy to make them even more scared. The employer can drop a dime and get them deported, or steal their pay. And now some crazy Trump-lover will shoot them.
It works perfectly for them.
So Dems, when you (understandably!) protest this brutality, you are playing into the narrative that it is your kindness and humanity that is the cause of immigration/ asylum-seeking. It’s not, but those hypocrite R business owners, like Trump, are. Start saying this!!

“680 suspected undocumented workers were arrested during a series of raids in Mississippi…”

Wait a minute – there were actually 680 people in Mississippi with jobs?

The entire undocumented worker problem would disappear if no one hired them…well, you’d have some forged documents, but that’s a minor issue that can be rectified easily. The fact is that employers take advantage of undocumented workers, because they can abuse them without worrying about being reported, give them lower wages, no health care, all kinds of things. It’s the entire point they hire them, same reason business move operations overseas…it’s in the pursuit of profit above all else.

Punish them severely, and there won’t be a reason to hire anyone who isn’t here as a legal resident (this should include guest worker programs and other improvements to immigration as well). It won’t happen, business owners contribute to Republicans to make sure that the non-whites they hire get caught and tossed, while they just hire the next batch, all while skating on breaking the law. It just goes to show that Trump is only doing this to enrage his racist base, it’s not at all about immigration reform or capturing people who shouldn’t be here that are a danger to the nation.

Use them, throw them away, rinse, repeat.

But but but the employers are white, wealthy and more than willing to send the relevant PACs a hefty donation for Trump’s reelection once they’ve been raided like this…

Yeah, notice how they weren’t white Mississipians…

too busy with the militia LARP and homemade meth labs to take a job I suppose. It’s hard being a dedicated patriot.

The answer is that they’re going to promote the owners. After all, these people are making it very easy for ICE to do their job when they get to round everyone up from one location. They know they’ve got a good thing going to be able to get rid of so many people at once.

Yup. Dozens of raids, and not one Sheldon Adelson casio touched. Not one Trump property touched.

Nothing suspicious about that. Media should have been calling this out for years. If you want to stop immigration, you stop the available jobs. Immigrants aren’t stupid. They go to where the jobs are and to where people will hire them without paperwork.

But I guess raiding Adelson’s casino and perp-walking the HR Manager in front of the cameras doesn’t have the same effect as the Squeal Team 6 photo-ops at the border.

The stench spreads.

And, of course, they wouldn’t want to go after some employers and not after the big guy himself, for all of the undocumented people his businesses have hired.

I see the Cooch has learned the unsubtle art of kicking the can down the road whenever any awkward situation arises. Wasn’t it about a two-week process to produce Melania’s undoubtedly pristine paperwork for her own immigration? You just wait till the fuss blows over and no problemo.

Why would they raid employers who don’t need some special convincing that maybe they should be donating to Trump’s PACs and campaign?

I get most pissed off when the employers themselves call ICE in to raid right before the end of season payday. No penalty for the employer, work all summer into harvest, then lose your “full season” bonus and that week’s pay as well.
