The first proofreading job I had in NYC was the Bush administration gutting USAID to Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and a whole bunch of others.

That was February, 2001. Six-ish months later…

The Tates have been charged with sex trafficking, sexual assault, and a number of other crimes, but holding them to account is “woke.”

High on his personal agenda is Musk’s destruction of USAID. It’s personal for him. USAID played a part in the take down of apartheid in S. Africa.

It’s also a win for Putin.

Phrase: The call is coming from inside the house. (idiomatic) A problem is the result of internal factors or agents, and is not the result of outside influence or interference. The government has blamed the recent unrest on foreign agitation, but they’ll soon realize that the call is coming from inside the house.

Marocco’s meeting was not the only diplomatic misstep in his tumultuous career.

During a trip to Serbia, Marocco on his own volition invited the country’s president, Aleksandar Vučić, to visit Srebrenica, where more than 8,000 Muslims were killed during the Bosnian genocide

MiGAWD. That’s not a “diplomatic misstep,” it’s a calculated insult. Like inviting a Nazi to Auschwitz.

While he was at the agency, he frequently expressed wanting to cut programs he didn’t like or understand, his former colleagues said.

Bigotry and ignorance do often go hand-in-hand.

His official position is director of foreign assistance at the State Department, and the powers of the deputy administrator of USAID have been delegated to him as well. “Right now he is the most important person at the State Department,” one official observed.

Certainly more important than that sad wet noodle of an empty suit of an abject failure, Marco Vidkun Rubio.

Truly, the worst of the worst now have their hands on the levers of power.

Yeah – these buffoonish morons with their Rambo-esque fantasies think “soft power” means “limp, ineffectual.”

Also, the USAID IG was sniffing around at StarLink contracts. He’s conflicted all the way up to his beady little eyeballs.

Very astute observation. Words matter. Asylum, for instance.

Shocked, not shocked….

The actor’s book Freckleface Strawberry is on a list of library books suspended for a ‘compliance review’ after a presidential executive order

Moore’s Freckleface Strawberry, a story about a girl who dislikes her freckles but learns to live with them, is among the books caught up in the blanket review, according to a list obtained by the Guardian. However, it is not known whether the title was selected for further review or for withdrawal.

“It is a book I wrote for my children and for other kids to remind them that we all struggle, but are united by our humanity and our community,” said Moore.

“Marocco and the State Department did not respond to a detailed list of questions about the meeting or his views. Dodik did not respond either.”
I am beyond angry at seeing this at the end of seemingly EVERY story about Trumpist corruption - clearly, their attitude is "we’ll do what we want - "&** you if you want to know about it

When do the book burnings start? @garrybee; I intended this as a reply to your post.

These are the born rich guys that haven’t woken up one morning and realized their garbage man could beat them to death without breaking a sweat.

Nobody talking tougher than the born rich and never fought tough guys.

A lot of Nazi officers had gory facial wounds that made them look tough. Wounded fencing at university.

Showing physical toughness without willingness to suffer for the cause.

This is the level.

In related news, J.D. Douchebag™️ just a couple of days ago met with the head of the neo-NAZI party AfD, routinely praises the dictator of Hungary, Viktor Orban, and supports Russia’s conquest of Ukraine.

The cat’s out of the bag.

Just for some context I checked out his wiki listing.

What struck me was there was no mention of were he was born, or grew up. It starts with him joining the US Marines at 17. But then has a very good education record of degrees, and which universities he attended. And he’s married to one very serious God botherer who apparently hate the gays with a passion. Who also worked in the Trump I administration.

I keep humming this Depeche Mode song:
People are people, so why should it be?
You and I should get along so awfully
People are people, so why should it be?
You and I should get along so awfully

So, we’re different colors and we’re different creeds
And different people have different needs
It’s obvious you hate me, though, I’ve done nothing wrong
I’ve never even met you, so, what could I have done?

I can’t understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand
