President Donald Trump tried to walk back his shoutout to the far-right extremist group known as the Proud Boys on Wednesday by claiming he doesn’t know who they are–despite calling on them by name and telling them to “stand by” the night before.
He can’t even say “white supremacists” (maybe it’s that word supremacist–too hard to pronounce!). He literally will not say “I denounce white supremacists.” He hems and haws, “any form of that” … of WHAT? Say it. Nope. Not gonna. Can’t make him.
He’s seriously damaged his campaign through that one comment last night, as well as how unpresidential he was. He desperately needs to walk it back, but odds are the damage is done. Good thing, we all got a picture of a Trump second term last night, where he’ll turn even more dictatorial.
Who’s looking forward to him retrospectively deciding that he ‘didn’t know’ anyone in the White House and in fact ‘paid very little attention’ to the Presidency, just doing it as a favour to America during downtime from being the bigliest entrepreneur ever?
Trump is full of shit. If he had no idea who the Proud Boys were, he wouldn’t be specific in telling them to “…stand down and let law enforcement take the lead.” He knows precisely that they provoke public confrontations with antifa and people of color in order to justify committing violence on them.
