The Senators for Delaware and New Jersey are Democrats, and they most likely will not return blue slips to give their permission for this nomination to go forward. Republican leadership has said they will respect the blue slip tradition, I think we’re about to see if that’s true, you can bet that Trump will put all kinds of pressure on them to ignore the Democrats and push this through.
The judiciary becoming even more Trumpist is one of the bad consequences of Trump winning…it’s going to take a long time to get rid of that damage. Bove gets pretty close to the bottom of who you could pick to be a judge, but I suspect we’re going to see worse selections going forward…with Democrats unlikely to win back the Senate in 2026 there’s not much to be done about it either. I suspect every non-Trump judge is going to do the very best not to leave the bench for as long as they can while Trump remains in office.

If Bove were to be confirmed to a seat on the 3rd Circuit (I think this is not for either of the ones suggested but for the one for the 9th circle of hell), given that he’s represented Trump in the past, wouldn’t he need to recuse himself from every case involving a Trump initiative?
Trump’s appointing his personal lawyers to positions in DOJ is an outrage (but apparently not an actionable breach of any ethical standard), but this surely must cross the line.

YEP… I doubt that they will not get the vote, Democrats will cave. This guy is obviously Trump’s lawyer.

It depends. Anything directly involving Trump, yes, but a Trump government policy is trickier, because that’s the federal government and not Trump himself. There are rules about recusal for judges aside from the SC, and if Bove doesn’t follow them or just does whatever he wants then he’ll hear about it.

If Democrats don’t send the blue slips back and Republicans hold the vote anyways, that’s not Democrats “caving”…they have zero power to do anything about the judicial nomination process. The blue slips are a tradition, nothing more, and can easily be ignored on a whim. Democrats can at most delay the vote, and make a lot of noise about it, but if Republicans decide to confirm him they can not stop it.
It’s a bit tiresome to listen to people say Democrats are caving when they can’t do a damn thing about what’s going on…

The only qualification to be an appellate or Supreme Court judge under the Trump regime is utter dishonesty and zero fealty to the law. Bove is perfect. Expect the crooked hack Aileen Cannon to be promoted soon.

He’s probably such a great genius that he could hold other jobs in the administration at the same time. Donald Trump and all of his GOP buddies have liberated us from all those old conflict-of-interest and ethics rules from the past. Perhaps he can hold a job in the private sector at the same time.
At least he is smarter than Anthony D’Esposito, of New York, nominee for Inspector General, Department of Labor. He made jobs in his local office for both his step-daughter (daughter of his long term fiancee) and his secret-affair girlfriend. He also arranged a job at a local sanitation department for his step-son ( son of his long term fiancee) where his secret-affair girlfriend’s husband worked. Suprisingly, they figured out the affair. Now this brain surgeon is going to protect the Department of Labor from malfeasence.
Now, that’s going to be a fun confirmation hearing.
