President Trump nominated a permanent U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia on Monday, naming current U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio Justin Herdman to the position.
Herdman was a white-collar defense lawyer when he was in private practice at Jones Day. What kind of a perspective do you think he’s bringing to his new position?
Are these permanent posts or are they replaced when a new administration comes in? I don’t know anything about Herdman and the article didn’t give much info on but I have zero confidence in anyone Trump or Barr nominates.
Recalling what happened with Preet Bharara in NYC, they’re open to turn over with the change of administration, at the chief executive’s discretion.
All US attorneys serve at the pleasure of the president.
It is customary for an incoming president to make his own choices for the posts, but not every president replaces every USAtty.
It’s a safe bet that Biden will replace all of the 90-plus US Attorneys.
You’re sure? I though only actings could assume the position immediately, while those nominated had to wait for senate approval. Never mind, I see it’s right there in the article.
Well, here’s a fun OT tidbit: Trump claims he’s taking hydroxychloroquine himself. Says the doctor said if he “would like it” he could take it. I don’t believe that’s how any plausible conversation with an actual doctor would have gone, but I do believe maybe Trump is self-medicating with it. Even though it’s known to cause potentially fatal heart problems. [whistles innocently ]
This was just on Nichole Wallace. Both John Heilemann (sp?) and Jeremy Bash said they think he’s lying. Trying to cover his ass for recommending the shit.
