There are trillions of taxpayer dollars in the trunk, Donald Trump is at the wheel and the cops are nowhere in sight.
Sigh…
And total silence from the gop senate committee heads. Guess they’re too busy trying to get theirs
Some things the American People who are still asleep had better understand about Trump.
(1) A true dictator is not interested in snark
(2) Trump may even be a tad worse in the sense that the more he gets the more he wants. Some dictators are not that ravenous.
(3) The more we give up, the less we have to fight him. It’s like a tug of war…50-50, 60-40, 70-30, etc.
(4) If Trump gets the Fourth Estate, that would be a killer
Miss me yet?
So was there actually some expectation that this would be controlled?
If Orange Shit Stain can easily flip a switch and remove the oversight, what was the point of the oversight? Was the assumption that this time shame would hold him back?
“There are trillions of taxpayer dollars in the trunk, Donald Trump is at the wheel and the cops are nowhere in sight.”
I loved the film “Reservoir Dogs”, but I missed the final ten minutes.
Anybody know how it ended?
ETA: just wanted to clarify, I am not responding to Irasdad. It’s just a general comment about the article…
And in other news, we are now reporting the death if another right-wing talking point…
Trump sought control of his father’s finances, when his old father lie in the hospital. At the time, Trump’s casinos were going bankrupt. With Trump’s hotels under financial duress, might he treat America as he treated his own father?
This 500 billion, for the most part, is destined to be kick starter money for the secessionist nation Trump is planning to rule from Mar-a-Lago after he loses in November.
I know the SCOTUS is packed now and so I suppose this is moot, but I have a question: Is there not a point at which this behavior violates Article 1’s assignment to Congress of the power to appropriate and spend funds?
Just like with his “foundation”, and all of the loans he has reneged on, Trump thinks any money that comes into his possession or control is his to do with as he pleases. He really believes this. He is getting to play billionaire godfather at our expense, and he loves it.
Can you even imagine the ass-kissing that is going to be coming his way from some of the most powerful people in the country?
Unbelievable…yet not. This kind of lawless behavior was enabled by #moscowmitch and his GOP cronies. This is on them.
I think he’s too fucking dumb to think of using it to buy influence. He’s just thinking of ways to spend it to buy more stuff.
Why is he still alive? Seriously, how has he not caught and succumbed to it by now, given how much he needs to be surrounded by people and how some of them have come down with it.
Such a vile, disgusting, worthless POS. Just die already!
I Trump has a Crew. We know who most of them are. If we do not identify and shame them regularly we are wasting the potential of the great Fourth Estate we still have (and, most importantly, the feeling that a vibrant Fourth Estate is our right).
II
will defeat us more than Trump.
III And besides…there are still 46% of voters who fell asleep in 2016. How many of them have awakened?
All three of the above deal with separate segments of the population
Part I deals with people above my pay grade. I believe that it falls upon leaders of our major institutions to work with the Fourth Estate.
Part II deals with people like us. We have an awful lot of influence to teach those who do not know a hell of a lot of Civics.
Part III is the most difficult. How could that many people be that disengaged in the face of an existential threat like Trump? Anyone? Because if anyone knew the key which could engage those people and get them to use their rights (which people have died for), he/she would be the Savior of our Republic.
And the gang of 52 have their dreams come true.
“Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…”
The assumption is, I believe, that he is seriously overstepping here and the courts…EVENTUALLY…will rein him in. And that’s probably correct, but of course the money will have been misspent and gone by that time.
But given that perspective, what choice did Congress really have? Any emergency funds that are given to this Administration are going to be misued…that’s simply a given fact. Any attempts at oversight are going to be ignored/challenged…that’s simply a given fact, too.
So, does Congress refuse to pass an emergency funding bill? Or do they pass what they can and hope some amount of it reaches those who need it, until the courts can convene and shut Trump down?
