Trump 'Might' Torpedo Any Chance of Fending Off Health Care Cost Crisis

Seventeen House Republicans rebelled against their party leadership last week to help Democrats pass a bill that would revive the Obamacare subsidies that expired at the start of the year, and extend them for three years. It is not yet clear if the legislation in its House form will go anywhere in the Senate, though…

When speaking to reporters on Air Force One Sunday, Trump responded “I might” when asked if he would veto the bill that passed the House last week.

That just means he has no clue what the question was about, no clue what congress is doing, and no clue what he is doing.

  • Undermine the value of US currency by politicizing the Federal Reserve
  • Throw the credit card industry into chaos with unlawful interest rate limit threats
  • Kill the last chance to preserve health insurance coverage for millions of Americans
  • Menace black and brown people who work in construction, agriculture, childcare, etc. etc.
  • Drive up the cost of everything with unconstitutional tariffs by decree

Speedrunning the next Great Depression is going well, I see.

If true, that Senate bill on healthcare is trash. Tim Kaine is giving Schumer and Durbin a run for their money.
FWIW 700% of the federal poverty level for a family of 4 is $225k. Centrist Dems just love screwing over what’s essentially dual income middle class in blue states.

This is so classic.

Has anyone who hires illegal aliens been charged? Prosecuted? Visited by the ICEcapades?

This is the same issue I saw 50 years ago and it has been the rule ever since. And they always overlook the fact there are those people who do hire at slave wages, no benefits or protections, the undocumented and take pure advantage. Seldom is anyone charged in Texas for doing this. Funny how that happens.

It’s good to see Mike "I don’t know” Johnson is getting back to form now that Congress is technically back in session.

DOJ said Monday that it has charged one of two people who were shot by ICE agents in Portland

Willful property damage to the ICE agent’s bullet.

If they receive $500/mo in subsidies, then give them $6K in their HSA account. They could choose which policy to get and apply it. Money going directly to “the people” If the insurance companies know there are people out there with subsidy money, they might offer deals that bring their premiums down a little as an enticement. You, you have them actively working to attract customers.

I’m surprised the insurance companies are staying so quiet on this. They must see how many policyholders they are losing already and it isn’t going to get better.

but a bipartisan group of senators reportedly may release some sort of legislative text as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.

It’s the Congressional equivalence of the air traffic controller shortage.

It’s hard for mere representatives – especially Democratic ones – to get clearance from the tower, where all the political traffic is being handled.

Expect two weeks ; - )

It is a huge improvement over the 400% of poverty limit in the original ACA.

The Repubs and TSF were demanding that the money be dropped into an HSA and that it could NOT be used to pay for premiums.

ETA: The problem for most folks is that the premiums are way too high - they may not even use any of their benefits during the year. That’s how it was when I was on ACA - pay the premium and don’t get sick.

Apparently, negotiators have agreed on another bipartisan funding bill for several other agencies. The GovExec article is here:

The key bill to focus on is the one that funds DHS. They got a lot of money earlier in the year but they need more to keep the Trump invasion of Blue America going. Democrats would be well advised to focus on defunding DHS (including ICE) At least put an end to Noem’s reign of dressing up like the Village People with a different costume for every venue.
