WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump never admits defeat. But he faces a stark choice now that Democrat Joe Biden has won the White House: Concede graciously for the sake of the nation or don’t — and get evicted anyway.
If and when it’s time to accept an unfavorable outcome in this election, […] Trump needs to do it with the same grace and composure that he demonstrated at that town hall with Savannah Guthrie
Wait – what?
I’m no expert on breaking the bad news to Trump but this seems … unlikely to succeed.
Would Trump ever concede? “I doubt it,” said Trump’s longtime friend and adviser Roger Stone, whose prison sentence was commuted by Trump in July. Stone asserted that Biden, as a result, will have “a cloud over his presidency with half the people in the country believing that he was illegitimately elected.”
That settles it for me. I will never consider Biden to be a legitimate president.
There are many in his inner circle egging him on, including his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani. The former New York mayor has been promising to provide the president with evidence of voter fraud but has produced little, including during a press conference he held Saturday in the parking lot of a small Philadelphia landscaping company next to an adult bookstore.
I don’t think that I’ll ever get tired of reading about that press conference.
Trump won’t be going away. He’ll stalk behind Biden like he did Hillary in one of their debates, stomping around in the background doing his best to undermine the country for his gain. He’ll campaign for 2024 too. Why not? He loves the adulation he gets from crowds, something he’ll be loathe to give up. Radio or TV alone won’t satisfy his ego.
There’s no legal requirement for him to concede. Nor is it Trump like to do so. There is a legal requirement that he un-ass the White House on Jan 20, taking Kush, Ivanka, Miller, Barr and his bride with him. Which is good for me. Outta here asshole…and STFU if you like.
She may be just covering her ass. Her buddy Pirro just got booted from FOX this AM for advancing wild conspiracy theories that might motivate violence. I think Rupert is in law suit defense mode so these FOX’ers best keep it cool.
Trump acting like a petulant child would be consistent with his whole frickin’ life. At heart he’s a spoiled, rotten child. Let him solidify his historical stain, his legacy is already a stain. We knew he would never, ever pivot.
That’s true - there is no legal requirement for him to concede. There’s a civic obligation and a moral responsibility to concede, but no legal requirement.
Yet when did a sense of civic duty, or moral imperative, or even just a law, compel President Trump to do anything?
When he concedes, there will be more dancing in the streets.
