Attorney General Bill Barr plans to remain in his post and won’t resign early unless President Donald Trump moves to oust him, a Department of Justice official told Bloomberg News in a report published Thursday.
“…(Trump) also complained that the attorney general, who he has often called on to do his political bidding, hadn’t “looked very hard” to find the kind of fraud that his campaign has falsely claimed.”
Sounds right. After all, Barr only had 93 US Attorneys across the country looking out for it.
IMO if he was going for the steal he never would have stated there was no fraud. I think he can keep the shredders at the DOJ and White House running while he’s still there, with a possible pardon angle.
That said, I’m only going to fully exhale once Barr’s completely away from the White House. As Trump’s most effective lackey, the biggest threat to this democracy is him still in charge of the DOJ. And even though we don’t live in a country where the rich and powerful are held to account, standing next to Trump when Trump loses power is still the worst place for Barr to be standing.
Yes, it is evading scrutiny, and, to a bigger end, all about keeping this never-ending Retrumplican Party PR stunt sucking up all the oxygen in the media air. So nobody looks at the bigger, more criminal matters that we might be looking at.
