Trump Legal Advisers Tell Him Press Conference On Georgia Indictment Is A Bad Idea

I always want to see a candidate respond to these ridiculous demands with something like “I believe in the sanctity of the secret ballot. Pledging your vote is un-American.”

I don’t know if it would work, but I’d like to see how the party (any party) responds. It has the benefit of being what I actually believe.

The money that went to Mr. Trump’s legal bills was part of more than $16 million that Mr. Trump’s PAC, Save America, spent for legal-related payments in 2021 and 2022, the filings show.

Some of the $16 million appears to have been for lawyers representing witnesses in investigations related to Mr. Trump’s efforts to cling to power. But the majority of it — about $10 million — went to firms directly representing Mr. Trump in a string of investigations and lawsuits, including some related to his company, the filings showed.

In a Truth Social post Trump announced he would hold the press conference to present, “A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia.”

Translation: “I’m going to produce a document so long, convoluted, garbled and filled with conspiracy theories that you will never have the energy or patience to read even a few pages, so you’ll have to rely on me to tell you what it means.”

Of course, that assumes that the audience for this little exercise can even read.

Interesting that his life seems to be totally narrowed down just this. Regardless of whatever other activities he has, this is it really.

In a corner, painted in by his own hand, about ready to dump the bucket over his head.

This is the kind of legal representation that Donald Trump gets–and deserves. The “sources” for the report are likely Trump’s own lawyers, and they are divulging confidential legal advice they gave to their client–which is protected by attorney-client privilege. It’s perfectly obvious that any competent lawyer would give Trump the same advice, but that he was in fact given that advice should not be revealed by his lawyers. They are trying to protect their reputations at the expense of their ethical obligations.
