Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney was at home in South Carolina when the raid to kill Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was launched, only learning about it after the fact.
Iām honestly not totally clear on what Mick Mulvaney does in his capacity as WHCOS. He doesnāt seem to manage the Presidentās time or have his ear, manage interactions between high-level staffers, or do any day-to-day crank-turning and lever-flipping. Mick, what are the American people paying you for?
And I bet he put a note on Mulvaneyās locker telling him that he wasnāt invited to the party on the weekend, and Melania is going to be out of town so it will be uh-maze-ing. And all the cool kids are coming, but Mulvaney isnāt invited.
The posed picture of Trump at the head of a large table supposedly watching the raid with military leaders on both sides didnāt have room for Mulvaney. And heās just Acting COS, which means even more disposable than usual in the Trump administration game of whack-a-staffer.
