Trump Lawyers Roll Out Defense As Senate GOPers Wait To Be Wooed | Talking Points Memo

After two days of argument from the House impeachment managers that then-President Donald Trump brought a mob to Washington, D.C. and then incited it to attack the Capitol, Trump’s defense team will roll out its response on Friday.

Sorry to say it, but especially given that Cruz sat with the lawyers last night, I fully expect ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ to be read into the Congressional Record and the GOP Senators to decide that this vindicates T**** and he will be acquitted.

They’re not going to do or say anything of substance. There’s no defending the indefensible. But they’re gonna waste their two days on stupidity the likes of which we’ve never seen.

And then they’ll win the case.

“I’m just anxious to see what my Republican friends do. If they stand up,”

Not without spines, Mr. President. Not without spines.

Damn… First sentence is all calling it unconstitutional.

Did they not get the memo that that issue has already been resolved in the first vote?

The problem Republicans have right now is that the party is currently divided into two major factions: The racist/delusional faction who truly believe in Trump, and the corrupt/craven faction who truly believe in nothing.

By going against Trump, Republicans risk losing their racist/delusional base leaving them with only the craven and the corrupt. That’s a huge problem because there are not enough true nihilists in this country to keep their party alive. Most Republicans in the Senate really hate Trump, but they aren’t able to say that in public if they hope to ever win an election again.

I find this appalling, though not surprising…unless one might be surprised by their lack of shame in opening meeting with Who’s lawyers.

Nothing like having members of the jury conferring with the Defense lawyers.

Words, words, words, I’m so sick of words.
I get words all day through, first from him, now from you.
Is that all you blighters can do?

If Trump can claim that he won the election in a landslide with his 74 million votes to Biden’s 81 million votes, I’m sure that the 44 votes declaring the impeachment unconstitutional override the 56 votes that declared it constitutional.

Ok… So montage of Democrats objecting to trump’s certification.

And this has exactly what to do with the price of tea in China? Don’t seem to recall Hillary calling on everyone to March on the Capitol.

Did I miss that memo?
