Trump Launches Whole-of-Government Attack on Midterm Elections

But, if New Mexico becomes the ‘New America,’ what’re we gonna call it when Dear Leader grabs South Georgia in an effort to control the Southern Ocean’s circumpolar winds?

Far-Right AfD Wins Big In Germany

In and Outside of History at Once

I have been convinced for a number of years that the rise of right wing parties throughout the world has been organized an sponsored by Putin. To me, Brexit was a Russian game to weaken the EU. Their disinformation operations that helped elect TMF twice, was clearly their hand. The rise of Marine Le Pen in France and AfD in Germany and Orban in Hungary were all backed under the table by Russia. The recent election of Radev in Bulgaria is similar.

Get rid of Putin and the whole fascist movement dissolves.

Two things:

  • Over the weekend, a friend of mine posted a picture of our old high school, in a historic building, bathed in green light. (Our colors were green and white.) Someone we don’t know commented that of Muslims want to light buildings in green for their holidays, they can go back to their home countries. I’m sure she’s MAGA and nuts. (Redundant, I know.)

  • Then there’s this, from the NYTMag story on ticks: “To people with trust issues, ticks are nature’s Deep State, an insidious network of scarcely visible malefactors poised to wreak havoc in our lives. A tale circulated online by the MAHA Moms Coalition, among others, holds that Big Pharma has been dumping boxes of ticks on Midwestern farms to amplify demand for a forthcoming Lyme vaccine. Another conspiracy theory suggests that the Gates Foundation, which has funded research into cattle ticks, is somehow behind the rise of alpha-gal syndrome, with the secret agenda of promoting veganism.

Most persistent is the idea that the Lyme epidemic began as a lab leak from Plum Island, the site of an animal-disease research center on Long Island Sound (and, as tick truthers would have it, of a secret military program to engineer ticks as bioweapons). Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has deemed the bioweapon origin story “highly likely,” and in December, the House of Representatives passed an amendment written by Chris Smith, a Republican from New Jersey, that would require the Government Accountability Office to “investigate whether the Cold War-era Department of Defense weaponized ticks with Lyme disease.”

We’re so screwed.

I checked my voter registration this morning (:+1:) and then I checked my hubby’s (:+1:). I will check periodically from now until the registration deadline - just to be sure. For years I’ve been getting an early ballot and then submitting it in person but this time we are both voting in person (come hell or high water)!

So typical and predictable:

“Okay, little by little details are coming outabout how all of this happened. It turns outthat the initial plan to allow the beef importswas announced the day after a closed doormeeting between Trump and a Brazilian meatpacking billionaire who is a major donor toTrump.”

As I posted earlier, this is not a Presidential administration; it is a criminal enterprise.

ETA: “Big, strong men,” perhaps with tears in their eyes?
Like, everyone knows absolutely nothing like this happened.
For sure, Donnie didn’t even have to shake dust out of his jacket on 9/11.

YES!!! The DNC needs to inform/warn postal workers that failing to properly handle the mail is a crime, no matter what the sick fuck or Tawd says. And while the current government won’t prosecute anyone for mail fraud, that doesn’t mean that ANYONE is safe once the sick fuck and his band of miscreants are gone.

Can the Supreme Court simply decline the last minute desparate attempts, or ignore them until it’s too late? Is that an option?

ETA: Is it a logical self-preservation move?

Russian meddling may be part of it, but I think a big part of the rise in hard right/fascist parties in places like Europe, is due to the demographic and cultural shifts with increased immigration from other parts of the world. And resentment from the established (read: Whiter) population. The same thing Trump took advantage of to win reelection.

I’m prepared to bet it’s more nefarious than ignoring the August 2001 memo. Bush and co. were 1) focused on Saddam Husse

in as the major threat, and 2) not in need of a major attack inside the US to stay in power.

Incompetence vs deliberate choice.

Not that we’ll ever find out.
