Originally published at: Trump Lackey Emil Bove Up For Senate Grilling As Trump Tries To Make Him A Judge
The man who spearheaded the administration’s effort to remake the Department of Justice into Trump’s ideal is up for a hearing Tuesday morning before the Senate Judiciary Committee over his nomination to be a federal appeals court judge. Emil Bove is a former Manhattan federal prosecutor who, until January, was a personal lawyer to President…
Bove looks even more like Nosferatu than S. Miller does.
Is there anyone that doesn’t think this hearing is only because they have to have one and this guy is already pretty much confirmed? Isn’t this all just for show when no one will stand up to this authoritarian action?
It won’t matter that the guy has said outrageous things about ignoring the law, so let’s put him in charge of enforcing what he has explicitly said he will ignore.
Has Congress said no to any of the nominations to date?
I know it is shallow to judge someone by their looks, but what the hell, his countenance exudes sinister and diabolical motivations.
You might even say, “Evil”?
I agree…
Hardly. I’m putting money on them confirming the bastard. The GQP has no shame and they are in thrall to Mango Mussolini.
Any Democrat who votes for this evil motherfucker needs to be shown the fucking door.
Bove describes the whistleblower complaint as “fundamentally a dispute posed by the challenges presented by the unelected bureaucracy to the unitary executive.” It’s catnip for the right wing legal set that built out the scaffolding for Trump’s authoritarian takeover.
Unpacking “unitary executive”:
“Unitary,” as in “one,” or “sole,” or in Greek, “monos.”
“Executive,” as in “government,” or perhaps “leader,” or in Greek, “archos.”
Ergo, MONARCH.
In other words, exactly what this country was founded on.
Oh, hang on, I’m being handed a note…
Matty “I like 'em young” Gaetz got canned when it was clear that he wouldn’t clear that low, low bar.
That’s about it, so far.
I mean, if they can confirm Bobby Antivaxx to HHS, and Kash Krakpot to FBI, and Tulsi Dictatorfriend to DNI, it’s not at all clear where the bottom of that barrel is … if it even has one.
Bove replies, saying that he would quite “solemnly” respect the rule of law.
“I think really the most important thing is the ability to exercise independent judgment in the face of great scrutiny and criticism,” Bove says.
Independent judgment, huh? By a lower court judge? I guess we have come a long way from just calling “balls and strikes.”
He said this with a straight face???
If you’ve advised your underlings that it’s okay to say “fuck you” to federal judges . . . well, I think you might recall that.
Which is what Adam Schiff said. Several times.
