Trump Judge Suggests DOJ Could Ignore Order OKing Release Of Mueller Grand Jury Docs | Talking Points Memo

I see you’re out to unify the party again, Steve.

There are no “Trump judges” or “Obama Judges,” or “Bush judges.” Just ask the Chief Justice.

Glad you noticed.
He’s also reminding us all to vote blue, no matter who.

" Rao asked Letter repeatedly to state which cases — if any — before this one resulted in a court order that the Department release the records, rather than just authorize the disclosure.

“There hasn’t been a need for compulsion,” Letter said, because the Justice Department has never opposed the release of grand jury materials once there has been a final court ruling saying the Department was permitted to."

Where do they teach these ultra-right-wing Federalist Society lawyers and judges like Rao to go three steps beyond what anyone has ever considered proper or legally-based argument before to get to the unprecedented result they’re trying to achieve?

Is she one of the “unqualifieds” who was nevertheless appointed?

As a lawyer, it was sickening to hear about the people with law degrees but no litigation background whatsoever get appointed to the federal bench.

Rao is an embarrassment to the federal judiciary. Sadly, not the only one Trump has appointed and Moscow Mitch has pushed through. And, typical of Trumpsters, she thinks she’s a lot smarter and more qualified than she is.

Objection!

Assumes facts not in evidence.

But, golly, Thunderclap, doncha think that blaming the putative Bernie write-in and pivoting Stein voters for Rao being on the court might invite a retort that if we hadn’t run a candidate who voted for the very war that’s gonna bite us in the ass again today they never would have elected Trump in the first place?

I’m asking for a friend…

@ncsteve

He’s stating—quite factually—that those people elected Trump and are responsible for the current fucked-up state of affairs.

Hillary’s vote for Iraq is not the issue at hand—but congrats on trying to change the subject, even though you’ve failed miserably.

Well no, but I think I’d classify her as also an outlier among traditional GOP judicial thought. But then I’m not sure how much the Federalist Society’s legal view point informs the historical majority of Republican thought.
In layman’s terms she’s out there. Thnx MoscowMitch!

Thanks for responding…What you are responding to is difficult for me to understand…especially contrasting it with people who never had a chance to vote at all.

(yeah…I was looking at one of my Latin American Series Yearbooks)

and some personal letters of mine…

This is how Rao got the job. Totally unqualified. This is a lifetime appointment.

As Buzzfeed reported, Neomi Rao is currently an administrator in Trump’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs who has never served as a judge. Before her career in government and as a law professor, Rao attended Yale University, graduating in 1995. During her time at Yale and just after graduating Rao wrote a number of troubling essays and articles about rape survivors, the poor, and race relations.

My friend is stating - quite factually - that maybe we should stop bullshit post-facto and unprovable
blame games when there’s enough to go around on all sides. Unless, of course, feeling self-righteous is more important than winning the election

Nor are people who wrote in Bernie, or voted for Stein. The US elected Trump. You could blame the electoral college, Russian interference, Facebook rules, American Oligarchs, Stein voters, or the craptastic D nom, or Obama, or Fox News, whatever you like, and all are unprovable. But if you or @ncsteve want to pick a fight with people on the left who had trouble with HRC knock yourselves out.

Just as long as it doesn’t prevent you from voting for Sanders in the general vs. Trump, 'cos you know: courts and other things are important.

Except, of course, that Bernie is not going to be the nominee.

Sleazy: “The US elected Trump.” Not America but the Electoral College, which kills you. The child shouted “Look what you made me do!” as you continue to make excuses for Ralph Nader, Putin stooge Jill Stein and the Sanders voters who voted for Trump - while sneering at people here about party unity. You don’t give a fuck about party unity. Well thank God Hillary isn’t in the White House. Heaven knows where we’d be.

I guessed the judge’s name from the headline. Predicting a judicial impeachment in 2021.

I’m not a lawyer so please forgive this ignorant question, but I’m curious who decides which judges in a circuit court are assigned to a case and can the House or the DOJ request that the case be heard by the full court and not just a three-judge panel?

Every goddamned article about a federal case. Name the circuit early, name the judge(s), and which president appointed them. Every fucking time. Journamalism!
