Originally published at: Trump Judge Questions If Airlifts Under Idaho Abortion Ban Are Really About Mother Who ‘Wants To Kill The Baby’ - TPM – Talking Points Memo
When an appellate court on Tuesday got its hearing of the major emergency room abortion case the Supreme Court sent back down last term, the liberals painted a grim picture of women’s suffering under an anti-abortion regime that the conservatives quickly sought to sanitize. “Your argument is: If the mother wants to kill the baby…
The Supreme Court majority Trump crafted ended abortion rights across the United States.
Let’s give Mitch McConnell the credit he, uh, deserves.
Oooo. Frist. Hang on…
I can’t even understand this shit anymore.
Total brain washing, lifetime of adherence.
I keep talking about the difference that the border makes, and it is significant! I may live in a town with Trump flag still flying every fifth house, but my children go to well-funded schools, 5 days a week, I have access to healthcare, and we have a fairly good NICU in nearby Spokane, which all of my kids spent some time in. Our state colleges are some of the best in the country.
On the other side of the border, and this continues to shock me every f****** day, they only go to school 4 days a week. They’ve shut down obstetrics departments and all of the small towns, forcing people to drive here for health care.
From a Seattle taxpayer - you’re welcome! It’s what your children deserve.
Side note: eastern oregon schools are also four days a week. Initially because Income tax receipts took a huge hit in 2008 and they’ve kept it up because, um, it makes sports easier, i guess?
“Van Dyke mused about whether “ethics” have a place in medicine, and why it shouldn’t be left to the states to decide what they are.”
Just perhaps medical decisions and ethics should be left to MD’s and patients, and not Legislators or Judges with no medical training!!!
What a piece of
And sometimes they fly to Spokane for other heath care, too. Washington state helps support medical care in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. But those folks have their “freedumb”.
WWAMI!
Opened his mouth, removed all doubt.
This is like a step back in time when a doctor could perform a sterilization on the “feeble minded” people.
So is VanDyke advocating that doctors need to consult a judge with no medical training if a woman is close enough to death to be airlifted out of ID to get an abortion?
It is both regulation of the practice of medicine and medical ethics, you dipshit assholes. Preventing states from requiring pregnant women to die, leaving their children and other family members destitute and stuck on the federal dole, plus making them engage in interstate commerce by traveling across state lines to get the health care that can prevent their deaths or serious bodily impairment, is an obvious regulation of interstate commerce.
Article I, bitches.
Make no mistake, dead and disfigured women are a feature, not a bug, of these abortion bans. For one, the forced birthers are absolute fucking ghouls. Also, what better way to show the status of women in their world view than to all but declare that women’s lives mean nothing. Women exist, in their world view, to service men and to make babies. If they can’t do either, those ghouls will just throw them away. For some people, “The Handmaid’s Tale” was a how to manual.
McConnell did a face plant which at my age (75) is a bad thing. McConnell is 82 and has had other accidents. In this case he got a cut on his face so he may have whacked his head. He should be watched for a brain bleed as has recently happened to president Lula da Silva of Brazil who had to have blood drained from his brain.
Mitch McConnell falls during Senate Republican lunch
As our family pays a significant amount of income tax to Idaho, I’d gladly double what we pay if it meant better schools, even if it’s not for my own kids.
Ignorant people on the border are a direct threat to me and mine.
Tots and players?
The Failed Idaho Gov’t is forcing its citizens to seek refuge in Blue State “socialized” medical systems. Idahoans deserve better.
I notice the mention here of a legislative committee that was to monitor the outcome of their heinous legislation, intended to apply for how long I don’t know, but in fact suspended after one year. The same thing was reported a few days ago out of Texas, where the committee or agency that would report on adverse outcomes for women giving birth since the adoption of their horrendous bounty-hunting legislation has suspended collecting data for the first two years. They don’t want to know the outcomes because those might give rise to objections from, hmm, the very people they are supposed to protect but aren’t protecting. Also like Florida suspending reporting on Covid cases/deaths. “Our God-ordained legislation will have no adverse effects, or none that you can cite since we won’t record any of the outcomes.”
“How is this not regulation of the practice of medicine?” Judge Daniel Bress asked.
How is denying emergency care to a pregnant woman not regulation of the practice of medicine?
New Mar-A-Lago Face alert! The dumping of Don Jr.'s Kimberly Guilfoyle for the two-decades younger (but still scarified) Bettina Anderson adds a new face to the mix. At least the Greeks can enjoy the Trumpy meat-sculpture when Guilfoyle shows up in Athens next month as US Ambassador.
Women’s suffering and death is not going to land with people who don’t think we’re human, or think we’re walking incubators at best. They should try framing it in terms of what the equivalent would be for men–men losing testicles or reproductive “ability” or their lives, etc.
Someone should have asked why he thinks it’s ethical to let women die preventable deaths.
