In the early days of the unfolding Ukraine scandal, before the White House released its version of President Trump’s infamous call with the president of Ukraine, Attorney General Bill Barr privately urged Trump to allow for its release, The New York Times reported.
Yesterday I was thinking Trump needs Barr too much to underbus him. Today I’m thinking wait, the stupidest thing you could do is pretty much a summary of his daily schedule. So who knows?
This is a non story. Barr is, behind the scenes, trashing the original Russia investigation (and, by implication, Ukraine) with his phony quest to get dirt on the FBI/DOJ initiation of the entire review.
This story from the New York Times and a few other sources is cover. Don’t buy it. Barr is in this corrupt cover up to his fat neck.
Barr’s the closest thing to competent that crowd has. And that’s sayin’ something. I would have thought Barr would have read the transcript (it was just a few pages) before saying it was OK to release because there’s a clear ask for a political favor in return for the Javalin missiles. And that is illegal.
Can we PLEASE call it what it is? A MEMO about the TRANSCRIPT that is in no way a complete transcript of the call. Barr and Trump are playing a ‘game’. READ THE TRANSCRIPT! knowing that it’s not really out there.
Imagine if Trump started treating Bill Barr the way he treated Jeff Sessions. Trump gets off on humiliating people, especially those close to him. If Trump ever starts to think Barr might not be “loyal enough” then it’s possible will start to see Trump go after him publicly in a big way. That could bring an end to Barr’s protection of Trump and hasten the end of Trump’s Presidency.
I can see his father, behind closed doors, rolling his eyes in exasperation every time Donnie effed up some business transaction, got called on it, and went about blaming everyone in the building all the way down to the doorman.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Billy Boy hadn’t read the thing before he pushed his buddy to go public with it. Christ, a 12-year-old could see what happened.
