White House trade adviser Larry Kudlow said on Monday that President Donald Trump is mulling setting aside funds to assist with school reopenings in the fall, as part of the federal government’s next round of COVID-19 relief aid.
Since May, the C.D.C. website has cautioned that full reopeningwould be “highest risk,” and that in both K-12 and higher education settings, the more people interact, “and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of Covid-19 spread.” The “lowest risk,” the guidelines say, would be for students and teachers to attend virtual-only classes — an option the administration this week began a full-court press against.
Hear that Larry…
Full reopening is HIGH RISK
No amount of money can bribe Covid away!
Oh, so instead of threatening all and sundry with taking away school funding, perhaps the White House will make nice and give away some of the De Vos fortune to schools that agree to open despite the pandemic. I assume there will be the usual waivers for parents to sign saying they will not hold the school or the White House responsible for adverse consequences.
He’ll just throw money at his well-connected cronies and praise himself for it. And there will be distasteful conditions for any dissenters. You can bet Betsy will make sure private Christian schools get plenty.
Five weeks out from typical start dates, schools need a lot more from this administration than bland statements of being “willing to consider additional aid.” But this is just a bunch of talkers mostly focused on looting and ass covering.
Hummmm… I smell a scheme to shower private and religious schools with taxpayer money that, unlike public schools, will have no accountability as to how they use that money.
