It’s never enough. They are married to the DFP and will not let him go. I’m making popcorn.

I just don’t know where the floor is these days on that side of the aisle.”

Preach it, Pete! This is how to do it.

Words of wisdom, indeed. Just like TFG, the party he pretends to represent is bankrupt.

“Now he’s dangling pardons if he gets back in office for individuals,” the Democrat continued. “Will that be enough, or will there be more collective amnesia? I just don’t know where the floor is these days on that side of the aisle.”

Where they have been for the past 40 years - willing to do and say anything to maintain power. Once again, there are no longer any such beasts as the “moderate Republican”. They are extinct. The silence of Republican politicians is complicity. Damn keeping their jobs, they need to do their jobs.

This is one of many hammers for the upcoming political campaign.

The 1/6 committee is allegedly able to do what they’re doing because its stated purpose is to craft legislation that would prevent a recurrence of 1/6, and also prevent problems in holding an election and conducting the transition of power from one administration to the next. So, if Trump is “witness tampering” all he’s doing is making those stated purposes more difficult to achieve.
Many want to assert he’s trying to thwart the possible investigations into criminal behavior on his part. Short of forwarding recommendations to the DOJ, it’s my understanding the House committee isn’t conducting a criminal investigation.

Just how potent are Trump’s words? It will be 3 years IF he’s ever in position to issue a pardon. That means if you gamble on him you’re sure to do 3 years in the can and possibly a lot more. What kind of choice is that?

Trump will not run in 2024. The trend he’s running is all down hill. By then he’ll be older, tireder and just about everyone will be done with him. I’ll bet the GOP wises up this year and dumps him.

DOJ is conducting criminal investigations. Dangled pardons interfere with that. To deter future insurrection the.1/6 Committee might consider increasing the penalties for witness tampering.

I think what matters is whether or not somebody expects a pardon, and clams up or otherwise impedes an investigation. I don’t think it is unreasonable to assume that someone would STFU and do the time in the expectation of being rewarded later. Scooter Libby comes to mind.

All I can hope is that this criminal and his antics are going to eventually crash the party he represents. The rethugs seriously need to start over after they’ve gone to several years of schooling in ethics.

Agreed, but my post concerns 1/6 committee members asserting witness tampering as relates to their investigation, not as relates to whatever the DOJ is doing. To wit:

Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), who sits on the House Jan. 6 Select Committee, on Wednesday morning accused former President Donald Trump of tampering with witnesses in the panel’s investigation…

Is causing an adverse effect on the willingness of witnesses to testify in a Congressional hearing the same thing as exerting a similar effect on witnesses in a criminal investigation? As to criminal statutes?

Witness Tampering: It’s what rich white people do.

Usually to great success. And in this case, we also have another example of Trump saying something patently heinous and indefensible as a loyalty test. Those who challenge it will be summarily whipped back into line and required to parrot those patently heinous and indefensible words as Mia Culpa.
