In the weeks before it happened, President Trump’s inauguration was shaping up to be such a chaotic mess that a key organizer felt compelled to reach out to a surprising person in the hope of making things better: Michael Cohen.
I bitch about TPM front-page headline editing a lot, so it’s only fair to say that this piece’s head is awesome, and the parenthetical “!” is [chef’s kiss…]
“The story describes how Wolkoff, a former events planner for the Met Gala, was either brushed off or ignored when trying to nail down details about the inaugural’s budgeting.”
You are not the only one.And as of 8/16/2019 .Some folks are still looking.
" When Trump’s inaugural team filed documents with the Federal Election Commission last year showing it managed to raise a record $107 million — nearly double the previous record set by President Barack Obama in 2009 — it prompted questions among critics and observers, mainly: Where did all that money go?"
I find it remarkable that the woman was qualified (running the Met gala is a BIG DEAL) and ethical (questioning what the HELL was going on – I know she was supposedly ‘paid’ $26M but I don’t know if that included a bulk payment for various vendors as well).
Of course, the article was compelled to note ‘former’ friend of Melania Trump.
“Wolkoff denies any wrongdoing, and has reportedly been cooperating with the SDNY, as well as a D.C. attorney general, investigation into the inauguration.”
If and when any criminal convictions result from Wolkoff’s cooperation I’m sure we can depend on SCOTUS to reverse or vacate them, because Trump.
The notion that Melania Trump is some sort of pitiable figure, blameless for the excesses of her husband, should be disabused. She’s always been a grifter, along for the ride with the Trump Crime Family.
Forgive me for being so naive, but when you see things done that are inappropriate and outside of legal guidelines, why not just resign? No gig is worth possible jail time nor the legal expenses she’s currently accruing.
Batman’s a real billionaire who anonymously comes to the aid of others and is respected, even beloved, in his great city - as I recall those campy shows of my youth. The anti-Trump, if you will.
