President Trump went on pardon tear Tuesday night as his presidency wanes, with the White House announcing grants of clemency for key figures in the 2016 Russia investigation and for congressional allies of Trump who were prosecuted during his administration.
The first among many to come. We need to bring all these worthy recipients to the House for a post Xmas chat. Start with Papadopoulos then van der Zwaan then Flynn then Stone. This should all happen prior to the inauguration.
SDNY’s Rudy news drop timing was in part to say it has nothing to do with Biden. I am hoping they take advantage of these next couple of weeks as much as possible.
From these pardons you get a clear sense of what potential criminal inquiries Trump fears most. He’s worried about campaign finance law violations and follow-up investigations stemming from the Russia probe.
“Mr. Hunter has dedicated much of his adult life to public service.” Boy, did he ever. I understand he even wrote a book called “How to Serve the Public.” You can find it on Amazon, under cookbooks.
He sits in his ostrich-hide easy chair in home detention, steepling his fingers and chortling to himself. You and I count the days to Jan 20th for one reason, him, another.
“Former Reps. Chris Collins (R-NY) and Duncan Hunter (R-CA) were also granted full pardons. The two Republicans were the first members of the House to endorse Trump in the 2016 campaign.”
Sometimes the writers of this show are a leetle too obvious.
Manafort is the guy who took the rap for the boss. His silence limited Mueller’s ability to prove a key collusion track (Manafort-Kilimnick-GRU). Manafort shared Trump campaign polling data with the GRU via Killimnick. That kept Russia’s interest going and they provided support on the back end in terms of mass producing disinformation and populating it in social media. I would expect that Manafort will get a pardon, but it will probably be closer to his final days in office.
I’d like to see all the names of the members of Congress that petition for pardons for former members of Congress. This just smacks of…can’t figure out the word…but if members of Congress who swear to uphold the law, write the laws, and then break the laws should be held to a higher standard. And if they fail and are found guilty then they should serve their time.
So now all of them must be called by the NY AG to testify without their 5th amendment claims on 1/21/21. They must testify. Yipee, I was hoping he would do this Papadopoulos then van der Zwaan then Flynn, or even maybe Rudy. Also, the wife of Duncan Hunter, a congressman that was pardoned, was also going to jail, no pardon for her.
Now more than ever am I proud of myself for tearing up the presidential “thank you for your service” letter when my father died with this fucking scumbag’s signature on it.
