President Trump on Thursday issued an ultimatum to Attorney General Bill Barr over the months-long probe led by U.S. Attorney John Durham, whom Barr tapped last year to investigate the origins of the Russia probe.
âBill Barr can go down as the greatest attorney general in the history of our country, or he can go down as an average guy,â Trump said, regarding the Durham probe. âWeâll see what happens.â
Or Barr can go down as The Greatest Criminal AG of a Dictator!
So is Barr getting cold feet? As fire spreads in the plane and people are climbing into their parachutes is he telling Trump that falsely accusing political antagonists and people you resent of crimes, much less prosecuting them, is considered somewhat tacky in civilized countries and can even come back to bite you down the road with legal difficulties of your own?
The real question is: will Durham be willing (or able) to fabricate any evidence that would make it appear as though they had a case against Biden? I guess weâll find out in a couple of months. Also, how will Trump react if Durham doesnât play along?
Barrâs gotta be really careful or Trump wonât pardon him going out the door. If he doesnât get that pardon heâs gonna be in a world of hurt come January 20.
Could be, but would Trump call that âpolitical correctnessâ? Trump normally uses that term where most of us would say âethical behaviorâ or âsimple decency.â
I just feel if he wasnât already playing along theyâd have replaced him already. I will continue to hope he has a scintilla of integrity without actually counting on it.
âNo,â Barr said, before doubling down on his denial and adding that he âwill be very careful.â
Barr will invite Tucker Carlson for lunch in his office, excuse himself to use the bathroom, and say to Tucker âWhatever you do, donât read whatâs in that envelope in the middle of my desk while Iâm gone.â
