Former President Donald Trump was unhappy with his impeachment defense lawyer Bruce Castor’s opening argument on the Senate floor Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
The delusion continues. The fear is palpable.
All T**** has left is to backdoor threaten the remaining GOP Senators with primarying the next time they run.
Unfortunately for him, that may only work with those up for re-election in 2022. Those in 2024 and 2026 have nothing to fear. At the same time, there are a few that have already announced their retirement (e.g., Toomey and the guy from Alabama) that really have nothing to fear because they’re already out the door.
It will be interesting to see how many Senators McConnell whips to come just to the precipice of convicting without actually crossing the line. This is the outcome I predict. It won’t be quite enough.

Trump was particularly angered and surprised that Castor had freely praised House impeachment managers.
Ha! Of course. His primary concern was not that they displayed pure incompetence, but rather that they praised the other guys. Totally on brand.
You get what you pay for Donald. You had good lawyers but you screwed them so now you are left with doddering old fools and dimwitted ideologues. again.
I suspect the fact the one more R senator slid over to the “impeachment is constitutional” side after Raskin’s presentation must be winding BLOTUS up. The fear is, as @becca656 says, palpable. Could be a few more slipping over — who knows when it’ll tilt against him.
But the two clowns he sent in are the only two clowns who agreed to represent him. In an interview, George Conway said, if this is the best he can do for lawyers (and it is, ‘cause nobody wants to represent him), he’s gonna be dead when the real trials start…
Nah! This is just Donnie 2-scoops way of getting out of paying his lawyers.

Oh c’mon. Trump was pissed that the Democrats gave a polished performance complete with MOVIES! It was well done and slick and concise. Perfect reality TV. TRUMP’S attorneys were wandering and rambling and angry. Also, they did not scream that TRUMP WON AND THIS IS A SHAM! which is what Donnie had been demanding his lawyers do.
To be fair, when you have a client who has insisted that his lawyers argue that the actions that he is alleged to have taken are actually the actions he took, and that those actions were actually justified, you have a difficult road ahead of you. And when that client is likely to call you and scream at you every night while you are trying to prep for the next day, it’s unlikely to get much easier.
TL;DR?
The House Managers opening statement convinced Trump’s defense team Trump should be convicted leaving them speechless.

I read somewhere yesterday that Bruce Castor, of Impeachment II, Sedition Edition, is the sibling of Stephen Castor, of Impeachment I, Coercion Version. trump picks only the best.
I’m still betting Castor is working for free. He made a deal with Trump that next year when Castor runs for Toomey’s senate seat in PA Trump will come to PA and campaign for him a couple of times.
Castor knows Trump will be acquitted and it doesn’t cost Trump a dime.
The only description I want to read of Trump’s feelings is on the day that the rage-aneurism kills him.
It’s a lot to ask of any lawyer to defend the indefensible, but it’s even more to ask one to do it when they know they probably won’t get paid for trying.
