It was your job to leak excerpts during Schiff’s soaring oratory
So basically, Trump is going to petition for prior restraint?
Trump one-liners and potential twitter tantrums about Bolton:
I may have met him once or twice
Barely knew the guy
Saw him in the hallway once
I thought he was getting coffee for the room
Should have never hired him
Not very bright
Guys with mustaches always lie
Nothing that happened in the book is very true
I’m going to sue him
I am incredible
Waaaah
With trump the question is not ‘what is he trying to hide?’, but rather ‘which of the many things he’s trying to hide is it that Bolton in particular knows about?’
This from the Administration that thinks Twitter’s fact-checking is an abridgment of 1st Amendment Rights. Heads will explode soon, but not the preferred ones.
Who says I didn’t?
(1) there is a nearly iron clad rule against “prior restraint” and
(2) as a practical matter, the book has already been printed and shipped.
Any Court (unless they land with Judge Leon or Judge Trevor N. McFadden) is likely to reject the request as way too late, as the book is just going to fall off the back of the truck…
My guess is that review copies are already shipped out.
Trump played for delay in the publication, as is typical for his administration was incompetent about it. Bolton submitted changes, Trump did not respond to those in time, then tried to Jam Bolton at the end. But the book was already gone at that point.
Not yet. Lots more damage to come.
… the book, titled “The Room Where It Happened,”…
Is this a sequel to E. Jean Carroll’s memoir The Dressing Room Where It Happened?
It’s almost like he just can’t keep his goddamned mouth shut, no matter how much it would be in his interest to do so.
Will be interesting to see what his arguments are.
If he claims it’s privileged communications, he’s verifying that it’s all true…
Mebbe…Schiff did seem to have a pep in his step in his best speech. Seriously…schoolkids will learn about those speeches.
So, has the GOP sufficiently packed the Federal courts yet?
Bolton has hinted at other Ukraine-like deals, but that would surprise no one. It might just be related to Bolton’s recent claim that the only thing Trump cares about is getting reelected; that he’s making every decision aimed at that goal instead of for the national interest.
Which again would surprise no one, by now. However, Bolton might have some juicy stories about that, which could be damaging if they got out. And Trump doesn’t need any more damage at this point.
So the White House consiglieres

lawyers seem to not only have skipped studying U.S. v. Nixon, but also New York Times Co. v. United States, 403 U.S. 713 (1971)…
I’ll admit to having a good deal of ambivalence about Bolton’s book.
Here’s the image of a greedy, self-serving right winger who puts his self interest ahead of the country’s in a period when our democracy is being severely challenged by his former boss. And, at the same time, any of the deep dirt about the inside workings of Trump and his pathetic administration that damages him in the next election is useful and appreciated (even if delayed for the worst of reasons).
“Boltin’ Bolton’s Bazinga Book Boffo’s Trump’s Brain”
Bravo.
Likewise, if Bolton’s book is suppressed, then there will have been been no corruption and abuse of power in the White House.
According to the pool report, Trump on COVID cases: “If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.”
