Washington, D.C. — As President Donald Trump attempts to conclude the sham $10 billion lawsuit he filed against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)—an agency he oversees as President of the United States—House Democrats’ Litigation Task Force simultaneously filed a motion to block this unconstitutional taxpayer-funded settlement.

The coalition is being led in this effort by Task Force Co-Chairs Assistant Leader Joe Neguse and Judiciary Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, as well as Ways and Means Ranking Member Richard Neal and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

With Raskin and Neguse, we might actually have a chance here.

Let’s be honest. Trump didn’t drop his 10 billion dollar lawsuit. He settled for 1.7 billion. It’s still our fucking taxes going for his benefit.

Have to ask a question. Why are EW aircraft doing demonstrations. These were members of the Growler Demonstration team. Expensive.

The notice also cheekily purports to assess fees and costs: “Each party shall bear its own attorneys’ fees and costs.”

When you are a star litigating on both sides of an issue, they let you do that. And, when one side is us, the taxpayers, we’re stuck with DOJ’s bill, though there’s little evidence that they did much of anything in this case except bend over on our behalf. So, $100, or is it $135,000 due to an NDA?

Courts always retain jurisdiction to investigate and punish contempt of court, obstruction of justice, and other misconduct. You can’t voluntarily dismiss yourself out of such trouble.

Whether this judge will exercise that jurisdiction remains to be seen.

“Trump aims to give $1.7 billion of taxpayer money to friends.” That’s an accurate headline. Could be punchier. “Trump plans to rob Treasury of $1.7 billion and do with it whatever the fuck he pleases.” A bit long.

Compare to NYT: “President Withdraws $10 Billion Suit Against I.R.S.” That headline does quite well exactly what the NYT wants it to do, which is to hide the actual story. Actually worse: it makes it appear that Trump is surrendering his unreasonable claims, when actually he’s just saying fuck you, law, I’m taking the money.

WaPo: “Trump will end $10 billion lawsuit against IRS over leaked tax records” Shoulder to shoulder with the Times, in unified opposition to constitutional democracy.
