For practical purposes these parties are non-entitiies at any time. The two meaningful alternatives are the NDP, which has national presence and is important in the provinces, and is the conscience of the Liberals, and the Bloc Quebecois, which is regional in Quebec and the Conservative alternative there. The Greens are the voice of climate change, but numerically ineffective.

I am truly amazed by this result. People, in Canada, learned from other people’s mistakes, that of the USA.
Of course, Donald Trump did rub that mistake into the noses of the people of Canada. That said, here Donald Trump has gotten people of the USA to literally drink the purple KoolAid…twice.

This is a moment to point out that Trump invented an emergency to make a power grab, and with that invented emergency created a real, global one.

Aside from Pop stars, there is an amazing traditional/folk music culture in Canada – Québécois, Métis, Cape Breton (Scottish trad influence), and others. Some “Celtic” influence there and heavy on the fiddles, but through a Canadian historical/cultural filter.
My wife and I have met some of the Cape Breton artists at local workshops here in the US, people like Andrea Beaton and Troy MacGillivray. Also the guys from the Genticorum band which is more Québécois. Great musicians.

I am unsure what statutes govern the creation and control of Federal national monuments. I would not be surprised if Trump ordered work to begin on putting his face on Mt. Rushmore, if there’s any leeway for a President to do such a thing.

? I thought my point was the same as yours. Rather than risk the Conservatives’ being in a position to form a coalition government – and in order to sent a strong message of opposition to Polievre and his ilk – some who normally would have voted for a different party altogether voted for Liberal candidates. This situation does not signal the collapse of these other parties that invesion’s post suggested.

I was looking for a hard-to-get tool this morning and found one on Allie Express. I’ve never ordered from there and in reviewing the price, they are already adding the TrumpTax on each item that ships from China. The tool itself is $130 and the TrumpTax on top is $221. There is a little symbol that when you hover over it, discloses the amount. Needless to say, I did not order it. (Also - if anyone cares - I cancelled Amazon Prime when Bozo attended the inaziration.)

Stein included Amazon’s statement on the issue: “The team that runs our ultra low cost Amazon Haul store has considered listing import charges on certain products. This was never a consideration for the main Amazon site and nothing has been implemented on any Amazon properties.”

Marge is an idiot. China has stopped sending cargo to US coastal ports and airports. Americans won’t be “avoiding” goods from China, there just won’t be any to buy. And they’re about to find out how much of what they want isn’t available from other sources.
Better hope your toaster or microwave oven doesn’t break and you need a new one. There won’t be any to buy because China makes 99% of them. And that’s just one category. Kid’s toys? Christmas ornaments? They won’t be expensive, they’ll be gone.
