Homeland Security and ICE were formed in response to 9/11. Can someone explain how it is that they have these broad powers unlike any other law enforcement agencies to scoop up/detain/move around/remove from the country/deport people (targetted or random), separate families without normal due process… warrants, evidence, hearings, verification of identity, verification of citizenship/immigration status? Not proving their ID, hiding their faces (which I understand is ok legally)? Enlisting other law enforcement agencies to do their bidding? Why hasn’t anything been done to curb their extraordinary powers?

Apparently, this IS America these days. It won’t be easy to change it back to something closer to our former ideals, but it absolutely has to be done.
The only questions are how much damage has to occur before enough Americans wake up? And what kind of “message” will “resonate”? And who is capable of delivering it?
