President Donald Trump on Monday night denied reports that he had insisted on making his daughter, Ivanka Trump, his running mate during the 2016 elections.

“Now Fake News @CNN is actually reporting that I wanted my daughter, Ivanka, to run with me as my Vice President in 2016 Election,” Trump tweeted, incorrectly attributing the report to CNN (it was the Washington Post and Bloomberg News).
Uh, it was your buddy Rick Gates who was sucking up to the (un)presidential rump in his sycophantic tome. Blame him.

He seems to think it’s somehow self-evidently implausible which is just LOL. Nothing is more plausible. He sees her as a) very specially excellent and thus b) an extension of himself.
He even throws his own daughter under the bus saying nominating her would be “… totally ridiculous…”

His denial is proof that he did do it.

Yes. What was that trade meeting a couple of years ago? G7? G20? Trump kicked things off and then left, leaving Ivanka to run things.
It makes me wonder just what he sees in the allegations that aren’t even a subtext in the story.
She sees herself as worthy to be at these things, and the actual serious chief executives freeze her out, as we’ve seen, because who the fuck is she to talk to them? She’s a know-nothing twit and they’re national leaders. This is an interesting situation because her having a role in the government is in fact totally ridiculous. But the guy who’s saying it doesn’t understand that it’s true.
