Trump Demands Congress Increase ‘Ridiculously Low’ Stimulus Checks To $2,000 | Talking Points Memo

President Donald Trump on Tuesday night demanded that Congress increase the “ridiculously low” stimulus checks to millions of Americans in the COVID relief bill, calling the nearly $900 billion legislation passed by Congress a day before “a disgrace.”

So, are Perdue and Loeffler going to hop on board the T rumpp Train with this to put needed money in the pockets of their constituents? That’d be interesting to see.

So i am trying to process this situation. Is this some kind of momentary lucidity becasue eff me I agree with him or is it just to fuck with Moscow Mitch?

Agreed this so places Perdue and Lofler in a box. Juicy.

The only answer I can come up with is he is trying to get people on board with team Trump. “Look what I did, don’t let Biden steal this election, only I care! Fight for me!!!”

Can Biden toss him in gitmo and just pardon everyone involved?

Chaos! Confusion! MAGA!!!

Classic misdirection. He had his people stall when Americans were losing their homes and registered addresses. Now the sop, turning himself in the mind of his people against all that is Washington.

He’ll beat the bushes with this crap, knowing that 2000 dollars is a lot of money to most Americans. He’s the hero against the GOP and the DNC.

All preparatory to his absolutely guaranteed attempt to hold onto the White House. Or can you doubt that if Joe Biden had a stroke today Kamala would ever sit in his seat?

300+ million people hanging, at their own expense, on the whim of a spoiled child, and still a month in it.

“… get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation,”
He seems to think keeping the government open is some some sort of pork barrel?

Where was Fat Nixon during the bipartisan negotiations?

Nowhere, as usual.

It’s all about him, not us.

It’s two things: (a) perennial Trump tactic of doing something outrageous (or at least “unexpected”) to distract from more serious crimes–in this case, pardoning fellow grifters and RussiaGate co-conspirators–and (b) screwing Mitch. That’s all.

In such a case, Kamala would be seated. The constitutional process will play out.

Dont think too hard about it. In about 90 mins, he’ll call for $3000/per. An hour after that…a demand for $4K each. Then by lunchtime, he’ll call the current set-up beautiful and happy to sign it. By dinner, back to $2000/per with additional insults to John Thune and Pelosi.

Why not, with Mitch’s permission? Trump’s a zombie horse, but he can still be ridden.

Nice distraction as Trump pardons co-conspirators. …Murderers?

It’s just an effort to create mayhem. They could reconvene today, change the dollar amount, and he would then refuse to sign it because of "the wasteful and unnecessary items… " It has nothing to do with anything other than creating mayhem. He loves the fact that he is holding people hostage as well.
It’s hard to remember, what with all of the other atrocities, but this isn’t the first time he has done this. It’s his M.O.–string the Congress and the American people along on a bill, and then change the terms at the last minute. If my memory serves me correctly, he changed his mind on previous bills in response to something that he had heard on Fox. This is probably something that he’s been planning all along.
I expect that this is the sort of thing that he does in business as well. I don’t know if they can hold the whack caucus but they should tell him that he needs to sign or veto this bill and that they will pass a new relief bill on January 7th.

They could if a couple hundred Reps and Senators booked flights and returned to DC for an untold number of days fooling around with Trump and crossing their fingers it would all culminate in a bill he’d sign. 1-1/2 days before Christmas.

Yeah, that’ll happen.

“or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package, and maybe that administration will be me,” Trump said.

L’administration, c’est moi! PAS.

Oh, also; Va a l’enfer, plus gras sac a merde.

McConnell has already told the Senate to be in town on the 29th to overturn the veto of the Covid bill. They’re already coming in. I’m sure the House is doing the same.

What I want to see is Pelosi hold McConnell’s feet to the fire and pass the bill in the House to adjust the 600 to 2000. Word is that McConnell can’t table that bill (not sure the machinations behind this) and he would have to bring it to a vote.

Now, I can also see the GOP screaming that Nancy is screwing with the people’s relief, but she can point to Trump as the foundation of her bill.

This could get very interesting over the next day or two.
