Trump Defenders Scramble To Explain POTUS’ COVID Quackery | Talking Points Memo

The White House and several prominent defenders of President Donald Trump twisted themselves into knots Friday, attempting to “fact check” reporting on the President’s own suggestion that injections of disinfectant could prove effective against COVID-19.

Schroedinger’s Trump once again. The president ‘did’ and ‘did not’ say… whatever it is you think you heard.

We need real leadership.

We can’t allow leadership to exist in ‘superposition’ - waiting to be defined by whatever his nitwits retro-actively choose was his REAL intention.

This is too much even for them…

sees few allies no matter which channel he clicks. He is angry even with Fox, an old security blanket, for not portraying him as he would like to be seen. And he makes time to watch Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s briefings from New York, closely monitoring for a sporadic compliment or snipe.

Confined to the White House, the president is isolated from the supporters, visitors, travel and golf that once entertained him, according to more than a dozen administration officials and close advisers who spoke about Mr. Trump’s strange new life. He is tested weekly, as is Vice President Mike Pence, for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

I’m done with Scott Adams.

Who knew that the pointy haired boss and Dogbert were the heroes of Dilbert?

“There’s a massive IQ test on the Internet today,” Adams wrote separately, referring to people who disagreed with him.

Yes there is and its not on the side of President Drink Bleach.

Maybe the fittest person to ever take the office of President should show leadership and confidence by being the first person to take the cure he’s talking about?

THIS part gets to me

The daily White House coronavirus task force briefing is the one portion of the day that Mr. Trump looks forward to, although even Republicans say that the two hours of political attacks, grievances and falsehoods by the president are hurting him politically.

Mr. Trump will hear none of it. Aides say he views them as prime-time shows that are the best substitute for the rallies he can no longer attend but craves.

Mr. Trump rarely attends the task force meetings that precede the briefings, and he typically does not prepare before he steps in front of the cameras. He is often seeing the final version of the day’s main talking points that aides have prepared for him for the first time although aides said he makes tweaks with a Sharpie just before he reads them live. He hastily plows through them, usually in a monotone, in order to get to the question-and-answer bullying session with reporters that he relishes.

If reporters slammed him harder - didn’t back down - he’d stop ‘relishing’ these meetings. They need to do their fricking jobs.

These effing effers told us Medicare for All would cost a TRILLION DOLLARS and we cannot afford it, but just gave away three times that to their corporate buddies without any conditions.

I’m not going to defend the President here, but here’s my hypothesis of why he brought this up (TL/dr: Dementia):

The President saw the poster recommending simple remedies for killing the virus on surfaces; sunlight and cleansers. His brain no-longer recalling a lifetime of learning, that surfaces and inside the body are very different, that what works on one will not work on the other, he went on a ramble and urged the doctors and scientists to look into things to inject into the body or lights we can shine.

Someone absolutely needs to pull him aside and say “you’re not well, leave this to us.”

Not only is trying to defend the indefensible unseemly, it is deadly.

Fact is I don’t watch the briefings because he disgusts me. But the clips I see here and elsewhere tell me that reporters do try to do their job and do ask pointed questions. He avoids answering them and has often just said I’m not saying anything and walks out. Plan A is almost always in play, and that is calling reporters fake and nasty as he points that short index finger at them.

He’s a master of deflection and of lying and since he’s been talking about the virus he’s told 350 lies according to WaPo’s fact checkers. That tells me reporters are doing their jobs since they’re listening and reporting about his lies and then reporting the actual facts of the issue. He’s told 18,000 lies since he’s been in office, and how do we know that? Because the same reporters are listening and reporting them out and correcting the record where and how they can.

Yeah I was just reading that and about to post it. A lot of the stuff in it seem right along the lines of what I assumed, that mainly he just watches tv all day to see what the news is saying about him. And all the meetings he claims to have been in during the day might be going on with someone from his staff, but I seriously doubt he could sit through one without taking it on a crazy tangent. Plus he claims so many meetings and calls that they’d be like 2 minutes long each. All the briefings definately seems like he’s just reading some shit someone else wrote for him and he pauses every so often to spout whatever thought the reading caused to pop into his head. Like, injecting bleach, disinfectant or light into sick peoples bodies yesterday.

When asked why Trump stated we should hang black men from trees, Scott Adams said, “Scoliosis is a serious problem, and Trump is thinking outside of the box on ways to address this issue. If you can’t see that, you clearly have failed the IQ test.”

BTW, in case you think this is new territory for Adams, in the run-up to the 2016 election, he stated he was going to vote for Hillary, not because he supported her, but because he was in fear of his life that he would be killed if he didn’t.

But Clinton supporters have convinced me – and here I am being 100% serious – that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump. So I’m taking the safe way out and endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.
