Trump Claims ‘This Is A Happy Period,’ Tries To Water Down His Impeachment To ‘Impeachment-Lite’

President Donald Trump isn’t bothered that the House impeached him and the Senate is currently debating over whether to kick him out of office. Really.

So, now Trump has dispensed with the idea foreigners can’t assist him in his reelection campaign by providing information and intelligence, and the commission of overt acts specifically designed to damage his opponents.
Next he’ll have to accept money from foreigners. An act specifically proscribed in statutory law as illegal. But he will not be sanctioned or held to account by any law enforcement entities, nor the Legislative Branch when any action would ultimately land on the Senate’s doorstep.
So, next up, the next eff you to the laws, is the acceptance of money. Mark it.

Also, it’s notable the Russians laundered millions to Republican races through the NRA in 2016, and apparently have gotten away with it. Surely no DOJ/FEC enforcement actions or criminal charges are being actively pondered.

Trump claims 'this is a happy period"…

As if we needed more proof he’s completely delusional.

It’s a happy period for him because it appears he now can do whatever he wants to fix the next election in his favor. Can’t wait for those Russian contributions and all the money and false information he can generate by wielding the power of the United States, in terms of both money and policy, to benefit himself.

I don’t believe that this is (or will be) a “happy” period for Trump. It may well be a vengeful, more lawless period.

And he’s vengeful and lawless anyway.

I would say to Mr. Trump that he is now facing a much more engaged Democratic electorate which is fully cognizant of the cheating he plans to do, and which is going to be “happy” with the mountains of evidence which will now be talked about (daily) for the remainder of his time in office.

Trump’s lackeys are preparing to eat our Constitution for a President who lost the popular vote and a Senate Majority Leader who received 806,787 in a place called Kentucky.
As with any Fascist leader majority means nothing.

Yes, all we have to do is go to the polls and beat him by about 3 million votes. That’ll show him.

As I said in a different thread, the Republicans have recognized and admitted to the president’s crimes and have elected to pardon him. Trump is quite right to call this impeachment light.

If you count Nixon, I have lived through three of these, and this is by far the most lopsided twisted piece of fake theater among the three. No need to go into detail, because everyone who reads TPM knows that the Republicans covered their eyes and screamed “LA-LA-LA” all the way through the manic McConnell scheduled shitshow.

The next 10 months in the right wing media will be all about how the Democrats couldn’t stand him winning the election so they mounted a FAKE impeachment which led to his highness’ complete and total exoneration, acquittal and formal coronation. Any further crimes turned up will be called sour grapes, and eventually the mainstream stenographers will start calling this the “Democrats’ failed attempt at impeachment” and wondering if it helps or hurts Trump (the only person worth talking about) in the endless horse race discussion. Like Wolf said, Republicans have to make some hard choices between crime and democracy going forward.

All in time for Superbowl.

Come on now. You forgot the best part of the rant; telling Iowans Democrats “Want to KILL your cows…and you’re next.” Guess the Donald forgot where his Where’s-the-beef in his Big Macs comes from or the steak that swims in his ketchup…

Try as they may his advisers will fail in cautioning him to just avoid the subject during his SOTU address. I may be wrong and that crew of knuckleheads actually encourage him to bang that drum. Regardless, he will be go there, and go there often, crowing about his exoneration. No way he can help himself. If it’s not in the official text of the speech he’ll just ad lib. It’ll become a rally redux.

Seeing as a sufficient Electoral College level plurality of citizens are illiterate racists and xenophobes, so far as reelecting him, I’m unsure what measures would work short of some sort of mass extinction specific to their subset.

I know this wasn’t addressed to me, but now that the biggest and best Constitutional safeguard against virtual monarchy has been turned inside out, the only option left is to beat these crooks at the ballot box resoundingly. Only then will they start to give a crap about becoming the unrepentant crooks they have become.

Until our progeny abolish the Senate, we need to flip it. This is just as or perhaps even more important than winning the presidency.
