While claiming that he’s not concerned about the ongoing impeachment inquiry testimonies so far, President Trump on Friday reiterated his argument that the now-infamous July call he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “perfect” while also railing against the media for now focusing on a second call with the foreign leader.

Having a earlier call where you don’t try to extort the president of Ukraine doesn’t really help you prove your innocence.
We don’t care about that call, release the real transcript of the July 25th call.

It’s telling that Barr and other WH aids probably didn’t listen to the call before the transcript memo was released. We know that Trump hears what he wants to hear, along with his firm belief that he is Mary Poppins.
Oh brother. Can’t wait for the entirely broken logic of the arguments they’ll make with this. I expect it will essentially be that, because this other call doesn’t contain a QPQ, it proves he is innocent, which is basically like arguing “I couldn’t possibly have murdered that one person I’m accused of murdering because look at all the other people I didn’t murder!!!”

Now he says Democrats shouldn’t hold public hearings in the impeachment inquiry.
Speaking to reporters at the White House before a trip to Atlanta, Trump said the public hearings were a continuation of a “hoax."
“They shouldn’t be having public hearings. This is a hoax. This is just like the Russian witch hunt,” Trump said.

No one will be surprised if the first call was relatively innocuous. Donnie was just getting his guys in place to put the squeeze on the new guy. You start out playing nice while you figure out what it’s going to take to get what you want.

There is just the memo we’ve read, plus a few sentences left out to show how innocent Trump is.
