The only hoax here is the alleged intelligence of a Trump supporter. I’ve literally never met one that possesses any. The vast majority of their very meager mental capacity goes towards autonomic functions like breathing and heartbeat, walking upright, taking a shit, spitting, reproducing, etc., and even there they’re being taxed to the limit if not beyond.
Being marginally more intelligent than them, Trump knows this, and exploits it bigly, and literally not one of them know it, being dumber than a pile of wet cement.
That said, it’s “funny” that Trump should apply the “hoax” word and “Russia” here. Hmm. Is he letting on more than he intended? Seriously, although lots of Russians and Americans could die from this virus, something neither he nor his master Putin give a shit about, the chaos and disruption this could cause could work to both of their benefit, in so many ways (it could also take either man down, of course).
How far out there on the CT scale is it to even entertain such an idea (for which there is zero evidence)?

It is not a hoax to the woman on a vent at U.C. Davis, nor the H.S. in Mill Creek, WA where a teenager who tested positive attends school, nor the elementary school in suburban Portland with a staff member now quarantined, nor the person in Santa Clara who acquired it in the community nor anyone with a compromised immune system. His language reminds me of an antivaxxer -selfish. While most have not died from this virus, it is not something he should f*ck with. It is rare until it happens to you.

Trump is heading towards Hitler in the bunker territory. “15 people” he says on Friday night, and the country wakes up to headlines showing that there are 60 cases, with two new cases of community transmission. Because Trump decimated federal public health previously, the U.S. has next to no testing capacity, and won’t for another week or two. By then it’s likely that there will be hundreds or thousands of cases, and the world economy will be headed into recession. But Trump has no other moves left to make other than mockery and lying. As the death toll rises into the dozens Trump will still be talking about the “15.” Unless he’s ordering the 50 Marine divisions stationed in Nevada to invade California and put it under quarantine
The near-term future is going to be extremely weird.

However, people remain stupid.
I was at my barber yesterday getting my hair cut. The topic of discussion around the shop was COVID-19 (though they called it “corona virus”). I don’t know where these guys get their news, but I suspect it’s Fox. The consensus in the shop was that the world-wide case count was going down. What they meant to say was that the number of new cases was going down, but even that assertion is inaccurate.
There are some open questions about COVID-19, most notably, “Where are the pediatric cases?” Personally, I don’t believe the mortality rate is anything like 2% (the number that’s being tossed around). I think it’s more like 0.1%- 0.5%. That is still high enough to be scary.
