The bills to make it sufficiently airworthy to get a crew willing to fly it, and a FSDO willing to issue the ferry permit, probably exceeded the cost of many months of ramp rental. Owning any aircraft is not for people afraid of, or unwilling/unable to spend lots of money. Knowing Trump, it was probably OPM anyway.
