I suppose he could, if he wanted to get tied up for the next year in expensive lawsuits over whether the SCOTUS immunity decision applied to that specific executive action or not. The immunity decision isn’t all-inclusive and automatic. It can be challenged, and it would be in this case.

No reason to go there if Garland will be releasing it anyway. If it’s stalled by SCOTUS until after inauguration day he might do it.

The request for Bragg to comment by Thursday suggests they might rule by Friday and we’ll see it by this weekend. The SCOTUS would have to perform a feat of amazing pretzel logic to find that Cannon has any jurisdiction over these reports, especially the J6 one. Of course it’s the corrupt Robert court we’re talking about, so who knows.

I’m thinking the Bragg response has to do with his sentencing on Friday NOT the release of the Jan 6 Smith report. We will see that and hopefully sooner than later

And DOJ should just dismiss (but maybe whichever way means they can refile later, if we ever become a democracy again) charges against the peons, so there would be no prejuidicial info to active cases, and the world gets to see just how fucking corrupt we are, so they know to steer clear.

Why should this stuff about Greenland, the Panama Canal and Canada surprise anyone? Trump is just following Putin’s example. Besides, it’s only real estate.

Bolding mine. Beg to differ that Canada is ‘only real estate’. It is a sovereign nation with a population roughly the size of California. A member of NATO and the G7, indeed the incoming president of the G7. A nation with an internationally respected military that has fought on the side of democracy in global conflicts since WWI. A party to a major trade agreement with the US and Mexico.

It would be nice if the press would pay lip service to the notion that any arrangement to ‘combine’ the US and Canada would have to be negotiated, and that the people and the government of Canada would have a thing or two to say about it. Including no, if we want to. Please don’t mistake us for Crimea.

Canada is “only real estate” to Trump, and not to anyone else. He’s probably fantasizing about some of the world’s tallest towers and longest golf courses, among other things. No need for sand traps and roughs; he’ll just put some bears near the greens.

I was looking at Hulu, which we just started up with this month. C-SPAN isn’t anywhere on there. A little research shows that they aren’t on any streaming service, so I will be watching the DC funeral tomorrow on my laptop.

Unfortunately, that is the future. It’s just a matter of time before fire and other climate related disasters reach those locations that were once believed to be safe. No location is immune from climate change.
