Bolding mine. Beg to differ that Canada is ‘only real estate’. It is a sovereign nation with a population roughly the size of California. A member of NATO and the G7, indeed the incoming president of the G7. A nation with an internationally respected military that has fought on the side of democracy in global conflicts since WWI. A party to a major trade agreement with the US and Mexico.
It would be nice if the press would pay lip service to the notion that any arrangement to ‘combine’ the US and Canada would have to be negotiated, and that the people and the government of Canada would have a thing or two to say about it. Including no, if we want to. Please don’t mistake us for Crimea.

It was entirely predictable that, once Merrick the Meek provided an advance copy of the Special Counsel report to Trump’s lawyers, they would run to Cannon to get an injunction blocking its release … Garland should have just released the damn report as soon as it was completed but, as usual, he was preoccupied with appearances and procedural niceties.
So here we are, 12 days before Trump regains power, and no Special Counsel report. It is emblematic of Garland’s disastrous failure, since day one, to treat Trump’s coup attempt with the urgency that was required.

For what it’s worth (and I’m sad to tell you that is less than epsilon, for any epsilon greater than 0), this voting citizen of the Untied States of America would insist that any Act of Union include a plebiscite requiring a supermajority approval before such an Act could go into effect.
ETA: I will also note here that the US has taken over at least one sovereign nation (Hawaii) without the approval of the populace as a whole. (The coup and annexation did have the approval of oligarchs.)
