On Monday night, President Donald Trump pushed yet again his evidence-free conspiracy theory claiming out-of-state voters illegally cost him New Hampshire in the 2016 general election.
“We should have won the election, but they had buses being being shipped up from Massachusetts,” he told his booing supporters at a campaign rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. “Hundreds and hundreds of buses.
And, this is the way it’s going to roll till election and seemingly there’s nothing we can do about it except tune it out or wait for the media to consistently harp on his lies. The second option is probably not going to happen.
Calculated. Not nuts. This is on purpose. The more resentment like that, the more people vote based on it and nothing else. “Oh, those damn liberals in MA are trying to skew our pure NH elections? I’ll show them…” This is 100% true and precisely how people behave politically. People vote on social identity and when you can create something for them to resent as an attack on that identity, they will vote accordingly.
The game here is to hold a rally and then send thousands of little campaign advertising bombs in the form of high school dropout white Christian nationalist morons back out into the communities to create social pressure to identify a certain way.
Go interview people from that rally and I guaran-fucking-tee you that you can find something insane, like 10%-20%, of them will swear up and down on their mother’s grave that they saw one.
I suggest the Trumpers guard the border with Massachusetts on election day and on every day of early voting to keep the buses out. Don’t even bother voting yourselves - just keep the buses out. Better guard the Vermont border, too. And Maine.
