Trump Animated About Probe Into Opening Of Russia Investigation

Eagle-eyed White House TV crews spotted President Donald Trump talking excitedly with Attorney General William Barr and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone in the Oval Office Thursday evening when he should have been leaving for Louisiana.

I suppose once the IG report is released Trump will have to tweet out that Putin was maligned and is a very good man.

This will be the big distraction from Articles of Impeachment.

At least it’s not a war.

But it’ll be bad, because it’s Barr serving Trump and unified, perpetual Republican power.

The media has got to report it as the farce it is and not give it any credibility at all. Report the truth about it - not both “sides” to the issue, not “the president’s critics say.” There are facts and there is fantasy. Report it as such.

Barr said Wednesday that the final report from the investigation is “imminent,” heaping up praise on the IG.

Is Barr’s praise because he discovered that Cipollone did break the law, or not? It honestly could go either way.

Let’s see if they have roped more into their crazy world.

Everyday, in every way, moving us towards nuttier and nuttier they are.

There they are…the little co-conspirators trying to cook up something to provide a counter narrative to the impeachment inquiry. Not sure dredging up the Russia probe in the current environment will play as well for them as it did the last time.

It looks like they are grasping at straws and no one but the MAGATs will give it any credence if they make up conspiracies about the IC improperly investigating Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

It’s entirely possible the IG found an irregularity or two. A step missed. Anything less than 100% perfect adherence to all the rules and regulations will be claimed “complete exoneration!” Unlike the Mueller report, an unreadacted and immediate release of the full report will happen. This is the one of the few plays they have left.

Bill Moyers has an op-ed out, and was interviewed a day or two ago on Democracy Now. He’s concerned that there are so many lies in the news stream of the US that democracy - self-governing - may not even be possible anymore. People are losing the means of knowing what’s going on, what their governments are doing.

Awkward phrasing or poor grammar?

Not just a distraction, Repubs like Nunes will cherry-pick as necessary to throw up the ‘Russia hoax’ distractions in the hearings. That’s one reason they’re rushing it to press.

If the IG report largely disputes and discredits all the investigations, findings and relative unanimity of opinion in the intelligence community as far as Russian meddling in the 2016 election I fail to see how the FBI, CIA, NSA and DIA can ever again trust Trump or anyone in his administration. And if Horowitz manages to leave their findings intact, yet lambastes them over what are essentially process issues that might be even worse. As if hewing to precise rules and regulations was more important than exposing Russian interference in our election.

This is so fucking illegal, the AG acting as the president’s personal lawyer, it itself should be a subject of investigation by house Dems and an article of impeachment against Trump AND Barr. And the report’s conclusion is foregone, it will implicate Obama’s DoJ in a politically-motivated illegitimate investigation of the Trump campaign, and refer it to the DoJ for prosecution. Which the DoJ will either decline to pursue, or which it will but which will not lead to indictments, because of lack of merit. But the political damage will have been done, which is the whole point.

Barr is a master ratfucker and loyal henchman which is why he was brought in. He would have totally fit into Nixon’s WH. He needs to be impeached and prosecuted himself, for conspiracy to abuse his power, obstruct justice and misuse department resources for political gain. I’ll leave it to the lawyers to cite the actual crimes committed. In the meantime, how do Dems handle this to minimize the damage and perhaps even use it to their advantage, by subpoenaing Horowitz, Barr and Cipollone to discuss the conduct and findings of this probe. If they refuse, looks bad. If they appear and lie, perjury. Either way, not good for them or Trump. Dems have to throw this right back at them.

Just why is Barr so excited? Could it be that not only has he seen a draft, but that he also has had an opportunity to “edit” the report before its formal release. I’m sure he will give it as much scrutiny and describe it as accurately as he did the Mueller report.

This Horowitz is the same hack who (rightly) excoriated Comey and McCabe, but passed on any kind of investigation of the NY Field Office in the ratfucking of the Clinton campaign in 2016?

Either a party apparatchik or a bureaucratic brown-noser.

Quite the contrast with the intelligence IG.

Yep, bringing up Russia while impeachment is still in the Intelligence committee phase while part of the WH’s whole narrative is it was Ukraine not Russia that interfered with the 2016 election seem pretty dumb. Seems would add to the Congress’s claim to Mueller’s Grand Jury transcripts… oh and also During Stone’s trial.

Seem pretty dumb. But they are desperate.

And yet the % of Americans who are for impeachment and/or disapprove of Trump is slowly approaching 60%, so I guess it’s only working with quite a bit less than half the country. But perhaps it’s turning enough of the first group cynical about the whole thing to make them not want to vote out of disgust. If 40% are pro-GOP, 40% pro-Dem, and the other 20% don’t vote or vote 3rd party, the GOP can win because of the electoral college and states, both of which are undemocratic. It just can’t retake the house, which is the most democratic part of the federal government.

In any case, we have to do a better job of fighting the GOP’s water-muddying and keeping the public properly informed and engaged. There have to be ways.
