President Donald Trump and Democratic rival Joe Biden will go head-to-head in the critical battleground of Florida on Thursday — both campaigning just hours apart in the same city — and fighting for their last attempts to woo voters with just five days remaining until the Nov. 3 election and 6.4 million ballots already received by mail or in-person early voting in the state.
And the way that Dems have banked early votes, by Wednesday Trump may be running to scotus to beg them to count every last vote, no matter how long it takes. Because the conventional wisdom that there will be a red lead on Tuesday night may not work this time.
NEW: Joe Biden is expected to announce his decision to create a task force that would work to unite the 545 children — separated at the border from their parents under Trump — through executive order on day one of his presidency, a campaign source tells
Well I’ve been to Florida…I’m there now. And something’s up. I live in a uber conservative neighborhood that’s usually a sea of GOPer candidate signs. Not a one today. Just one Biden sign at the waters end. Not a single Trump sticker. Not even the lard ass across the street who’s “cat is a republican” is hanging a shingle. In 2016 they all had that crap all over the place. I’m sure they’ll all vote Trump but they take no pride in it.
It was a gift!! I swear it. That’s how I’m reporting it on my taxes. TurboTax says I can. (And I need you to return the spare key you quietly lifted when you “dropped by” to see the new ride.)
The “blue shift” effect varies widely by state. Florida and Texas tally their early and mail votes before the polls close on Election Day. So do North Carolina and Ohio. Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin do not even allow mail-in ballots to be processed, much less counted, until Election day.
So if Joe wins the Southern swing states or Ohio next Tuesday night, it’s over. If it comes down to the same assholes who gave us Trump in 2016, we’re gonna wait a while.
