President Trump reportedly came close to firing Defense Secretary Mark Esper after the Pentagon official broke with the President over invoking the Insurrection Act to quell the violence that emerged during nationwide protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
According to a Wall Street Journal report on Tuesday citing several administration officials, advisers and allies on Capitol Hill talked the President out of firing Esper. Officials told the Journal that Trump was “furious” over the defense secretary’s opposition to invoking the Insurrection Act.
We’re inside of 5 months to the election and Trump continues to lead the most unstable, chaotic government in my lifetime. If he wins a second term, most Americans will have a chance to serve in a Cabinet level position as Trump makes more rotations in his Cabinet than the moon does around the earth.
In other news, I read tweets that claim with apparent seriousness that they are indeed going to have an address on race and that Miller is indeed writing it. Maybe it’s true. We’ve all gotten a lot of practice in believing as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
